“He that finds a wife finds a good thing, and finds favor with the Lord.” – Proverbs 18:22

Important points

Proverbs 18:22 praises a godly wife as a gift and a sign of the Lord’s favor. A wife should be respected as a partner of strength, wisdom, love, and support, not as someone who carries all the burdens alone. Biblical marriage reflects partnership, trust, peace, respect, and mutual care between husband and wife. A good wife provides encouragement and stability and helps create a home characterized by love, security, and faithfulness. Husbands can apply Proverbs 18:22 in the following ways: Cherish your wife, respect her worth, and refuse to take her love for granted.

When the pasta dinner was almost ready, my phone rang again. It was Chris who texted me his true feelings during a work meeting long after work had ended. Stressed out, he sent me a head exploding emoji. I smiled and sent the email,
“Don’t worry, baby. I’ll heat up dinner for you.”
“I’m so glad you’re here,” he texted back. Over the next hour, he continued to text me flattering messages in between complaints about work meetings. Later, when he walked in the door, his face lit up when he saw me and dinner waiting for him.
“How did you find such a good wife?” he commented as he added the buitoni to his plate.

I haven’t always been a kind wife. But as the years went by, my heart for Chris and the pressures of his job softened. We have come full circle and the journey is not complete without each other. Over the years of restoring homes, I’ve learned that getting married is a lot like building a home. The way I support him is what carpenters call sister joists.

During the early stages of the home’s restoration, it was discovered that one of the main joists was carrying more than a significant load. The previous owner wanted an open concept for the living room and dining room, but had not properly reinforced the joists, and the joists were in dire need of sister joists. This does not mean that the wife is there to carry all the emotional, spiritual, and practical burdens of the marriage. It means that God designed marriage as a partnership in which the strength, wisdom, love, and presence of the wife is of great value.

Joists in residential structures are designed to withstand specific loads, and sometimes sister joists are added to strengthen the main joist. These joists may be added if the new loads are heavier than the previous design. Finding a good wife is like adding a sister joist.

What does Proverbs 18:22 mean?

This phrase comes from Proverbs 18:22. It says, “He that finds a wife finds a good thing, and finds favor with the Lord” (NKJV).

A man can’t get more than a good wife. “Can you find a good wife? She is more precious than precious stones” (Proverbs 31:10). It’s hard to find a wife as good as this one. The word superior (Hale) means “strength, ability, courage, or dignity.” This woman embodies each of these qualities, with great abilities, a noble character, and a strong devotion to God and family. Only the Lord can give us such excellent women. This good woman is a priceless gift from God. So what makes a good wife? The Bible describes a wife as a helper, a partner, and a chaste woman blessed by God. She is the crown jewel of my husband, my lover, my best friend, the mother of my children, and so much more.

Proverbs 18:22 is not intended to relegate the wife to the realm of what she can do for her husband, but rather to recognize the wife as a God-given blessing, a partner, and a person whose presence can bring favor to the marriage. Celebrate 3 reasons why men find it good when they find a wife!

1. A good wife gives strength and support.

One of the best things about marriage is knowing that your partner supports you through life’s inevitable ups and downs. When it comes to having a wife, a man There is nothing better than the knowledge and trust you gain. Knowing that their wives support them. God did not create Eve to be beneath Adam’s feet or to be inferior to him. When the design of the marriage became a construction area, God decided that it was suitable to create a sister beam. Eve was designed and constructed to support Adam. This was the structure and structure of the first marriage.

“And the Lord God said, It is not good for a man to be alone; I will make him a helper equal to him.”—Genesis 2:18

The word helper means someone who helps others. Thus, woman was created because man needed help in fulfilling his responsibilities. This same word helper is used to refer to the Lord Himself. David said of God, “The helpless commit themselves to you; you are the helper of the fatherless” (Ps. 10:14). Jesus also called the Holy Spirit our Helper, who is sent to assist us in our service to the Father (John 14:16). Note that Eve was created to be comparable to Adam. The word “comparable” means an opponent’s opponent or an equivalent opponent of an opponent.

A home is just a home until it becomes home to your talents, your soul, your personality, your upbringing. It is often said that the wife is the heart of the home. That’s because the wife sees her husband and children and sees them. A wife can add warmth to everyday life. A wife, more than anyone else, has the greatest influence on the future of her husband, children, and family. A wife supports a man, so their growth, character and destiny are in her hands. When work gets tough, wives are there to support men. A wife exists to support a man in difficult situations. To remind him of his abilities and talents. To remind you that you are a man of God. A wife exists to support a man and help him achieve more. To turn his recklessness into boldness. To turn his anxiety into confidence. How wonderful it is to have a godly woman supporting you.

2. A good wife helps create peace and trust

A man looks forward to coming home because his wife is his home. Her words, tone, smile and knowledge of who he is gives peace to her husband. Paul reminds us, “In the same way, their wives must be honorable women, not abusive, but moderate and trustworthy in all things” (1 Timothy 3:11). In other words, this is a woman who is not very proud, knows when to speak and when to be silent, and can confidently stand next to her husband.

Peace is the result of trust. It’s the calm reassurance that comes from knowing your partner can be trusted. It gives spouses a sense of security, deepens their love, and blossoms friendships and emotional, physical, and spiritual intimacy. Her body speaks peace as she embraces him with open arms, her lips full of laughter and her words filled with peace. When there is a lack of trust in a marriage, doubt and fear take over and the relationship can feel very insecure. You don’t have to worry about nagging, cold shoulders, cold beds, and looking deflated. One of the words for trust (bach) in the Old Testament means “confidence that makes others feel at ease.” Your man trusts you because you are his support, his safety, and his safe haven. When he’s near you, he may let his guard down. He knows he is accepted and loved.

3. A good wife builds intimacy, respect, and partnership.

A good wife responds to her husband’s needs. Your thoughts may have turned to the bedroom. This is an important part of a healthy marriage, but we are talking about all the desires from his wife.

His desire to be respected, his desire for her loyalty, his desire for her to raise his children, his desire for her to take care of her health and appearance, his desire for her to lead him, his desire for her to be satisfied with everything he offers, his desire for recreational companionship with her.

Why a godly wife is a gift from the Lord

Proverbs 31:10-11 reminds us: “Can you find a good wife? She is far more precious than precious stones. Her husband’s heart trusts in her, and he will not lack for profit. She will do him good instead of harm all the days of his life.”

Husbands look to their wives to satisfy their heart’s desires. he can earn respect Work, hanging out with friends, admiring other women, but he wants and needs these things. his wife. Ladies, you are truly a treasure to men. You are a good part of his life. You are precious to him. He will find favor with the Lord when he finds you as his wife. You are his blessing. You are the love of his life. Keep doing good things in his life. Woo him, love him and smile often. Be his help, be his cheerleader, and brag about him often. Be his sister’s root. Please be good.
