Prayer to trust God in the unknown
Written by Kenisha Sanders Liddy

Bible reading:
Psalm 37:5 Dedicate your way to the Lord and trust in him. Then the Lord will do it for you.

Listen or read below:

The world is in turmoil. Everywhere you look there are wars and rumors of wars. There’s a lot going on and the days seem shorter. We can make plans to get married, have children, and buy a house, but no one knows what the future holds. This is why God says that when the Son of Man returns, people will still live life to the fullest. It will be the same as in the days of Noah.

People will get drunk, get married, and have fun. The question is, does faith exist on this earth? This is why we should trust God even in unknown territory. It is faith in action. We should live in anticipation of his coming. Every day given to us may be our last. What is interesting is that Jesus lived and walked the earth knowing when and how his last day would occur. But he lived a life that was pleasing to God the Father. He made no attempt to change his plans. he was obedient. Let us trust God in the unknown as we live our lives.

Let’s trust God for tomorrow and our future. Because the plans God has for us are good and give us hope and a future. God only wants us to entrust our ways to Him by trusting and obeying. Don’t be afraid of the unknown, because God is already there. All things are working for our good because God has a way of turning our confusions into messages and our trials into testimonies. God does this so that He may be glorified and so that we may be a blessing to others.

My mind is reminded of the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who refused to bow to the idols of Nebuchadnezzar. They had an idea of what would happen to them if they were willing to keep their heads down and suffer for the cause of Christ. Let us always remember that humans can do whatever they want, but it is God we should fear. These three Hebrew boys were not afraid of the unknown. They knew that God had proven Himself in the past by making them bigger and stronger by eating vegetables and water. They knew that whether death was the result or deliverance, they were obedient to God.

As we live each day, let’s live in the present moment as if each day God has given us could be our last. Look up and trust your plans and future to God. Because the signs are clear: Jesus is coming now. I am also reminded of Esther, who had to decide whether to appear before the king without being summoned. Like the three Hebrew boys, she put her trust in God and decided to die if necessary. Esther stepped out into the unknown by faith and said, “If I perish, I also perish.” She risked everything, everything, to save the Jews. I promise you that by trusting your future in God, you can be like Esther, the three Hebrew boys, and even Daniel.

Dear righteous God,

Thank you God for being my Creator and Savior. Because you are omnipresent, you occupy the past, present, and future at the same time. You are omniscient and know exactly what my future holds. Therefore, God, I worship You. For your thoughts toward me are good, and the plans you have for me are good. Help me to trust in the plans You have for me, just as I trust You with the unknown. Father, help me to surrender my path to You and trust the process. Because you accomplish everything. Oh, Sovereign Lord, we thank you for your goodness, grace, and mercy extended to all people on earth. Thank you for your abiding love that reaches beyond the evil manifesting in your world. I feel anxious about making plans because so many prophecies are being fulfilled right before my eyes, but I will live by faith and not let the worries and cares of this world distract me from focusing on You. Lord, I trust you and entrust my plans and future to you. Help me to recognize You and seek Your face instead of relying on my own understanding. In the name of Jesus, amen.

For a long time, rest felt less like a gift and more like a guilty indulgence. It was something that was earned, something that felt vaguely embarrassing, and something that productive, loyal people didn’t really need. In a world where we measure our worth by our accomplishments, the idea of stopping feels dangerously backwards.

But what if rest isn’t an option? What if it was never meant to be? Forget about the hustle and bustle tonight. Receive a gift. This is exactly what you were created for.
