The following is the text of the prayer offered by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, to dedicate the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple on Sunday, June 7, 2026.

God, our Eternal Father, on this day of consecration we bow down before you with love and faith. Our hearts are filled with gratitude for the many blessings and favors you have showered on us. We thank you for the gift of life itself, knowing your eternal plans for your children. We thank you for your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, and for the restoration of the restored gospel and eternal priesthood to the earth in this fulfilled dispensation.

We are grateful for the unbroken chain of priesthood authority to President and Prophet Dallin H. Oaks. Now, under His authority and direction, and acting in the sacred name of Your Only Begotten Son, we dedicate to You the Oregon Willamette Valley Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Will you accept this temple as a gift of our hearts and hands, sanctify it, and sanctify it as the house of the Lord? Place your blessings upon it. Take care of your protection. May it be a beacon of eternal truth and light, a bright and shining invitation to come to you.

We acknowledge and thank previous generations who have engaged in this sacred work and made this day possible. We are deeply grateful for their sacrifice, courage and faith. We are equally grateful for your work and all those who are building the kingdom today. We acknowledge and thank those of non-believers who kindly helped make this joyful day possible. We wish them and their families blessings.

We consecrate the grounds on which this temple stands, along with the buildings and all objects and places that are part of this sacred temple.

May your Holy Spirit always remain here and touch the hearts of all who come to worship and serve. We pray for the temple presidency, administrators, and their assistants.

We pray for all who will use this beautiful building to fulfill your eternal purpose, made possible by the great atoning sacrifice of your beloved Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Press your everlasting covenant upon your people who enter this house. Be willing to bind the promises they solemnly make before you.

Bless them with your love and your arms of mercy. Please enlarge. Let them thrive. Protect them from selfishness and sin, and bless them with your power so that they may fulfill their divine potential.

Bless the youth in your church with the understanding that Jesus Christ is their strength and that they can trust Him anytime, anywhere. Bless our emerging generation with the courage, wisdom, and hunger to learn how to succeed in this life and in eternity. Instill in their hearts a desire to follow Jesus Christ and come often to the house of the Lord.

The construction of this sacred temple was made possible because of faithful tithe givers around the world. Congratulate them on their dedication to your work and cause. Keep your ancient promises regarding them and open for them the windows of heaven. Protect this temple from all destructive influences, destruction and defilement.

Dear Father, forgive us for our many shortcomings. Strengthen our faith and strengthen us against our weaknesses. Give us the strength to resist the deceptions of the enemy. May love for You and Your Son grow in our hearts and be manifested in our devotion to You, our love for each other and our efforts to always keep Your commandments.

God our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ is the chief cornerstone of our lives; He is the chief cornerstone and center of this sacred temple.

Our hearts are filled with love and gratitude for you and your Son as we now dedicate this precious and sacred place to you, in the name of our Savior, the Savior of the world, and even Jesus Christ, Amen.
