Apologist Frank Turek recently answered a question frequently asked by critics of God who ponder the origins of the Lord.
These atheists and secularists often develop curiosity in response to believers who point out the fact that nothing comes from nothing, that is, every item or element of creation has an originator.

“The evidence shows that space, time and matter began from nothing,” Turek told the Bible Brothers Podcast earlier this year. “And even atheists agree with this, with Stephen Hawking, who was an atheist, saying that almost everyone now believes that the universe and time itself began with the Big Bang.”
Turek pointed out that Hawking did not believe that God was responsible for creation itself and had even tried to suggest other alternatives. But Turek believes the data is clear and points to an amazing God-ordained creation that brought everything from “nothing” into existence.
Turek believes this was a deliberate choice by the Lord. See his explanation:
“Space, time and matter had a beginning,” he said. “If space, time, and matter had a beginning, what created space, time, and matter? Only something outside of space, time, and matter. In other words, something beyond space, beyond time, immaterial, and powerful enough to create the universe out of nothing.”
Turek also spoke more directly to the concept of God having a beginning, pointing out that if the Lord is timeless, then God has no origin.
“The timeless man has no beginning, which means he has no cause,” he says. “Then the question arises, “Who created God?” “That is a foolish question, because God is not a “cause.” The definition of God is “the first cause without a cause,” as Aristotle calls it, the immovable.”
After all, this means that there must have been a point of origin, a time when things began and began. The “uncaused first cause” philosophical theory basically held that everything has a cause, so there must be one uncaused starting point, and that is where everything begins.

“You can’t regress causes infinitely,” Turek said. “So if you’re talking about a created God, you’re not talking about a God in the universe. You might be talking about a god…some kind of finite god, you know, like Osiris or Zeus or…or Thor or somebody, like a finite god in the universe.”
“But when we’re talking about an infinite God outside the universe, we see that God has no beginning. God has no end. God is just a ‘bee.’ In other words, as the Bible says, ‘Great am I.’ ”
