Actor Tim Allen recently completed a quest to read the entire Bible “word for word.”

“I finished reading the entire Bible, not even skimming, word for word, it was a 13 month journey,” Allen wrote this week. “I am humbled, enlightened, and amazed by what I have read and learned. I am going to rest and meditate on many things.”

And it appears this is not a one-time effort, as Allen concluded by pledging to embark on the same journey again.

I have finished reading the entire Bible. I spent 13 months walking word by word, page by page without reading through it. I was humbled, enlightened, and amazed by what I read and learned. I rest and meditate a lot. I’ll start again.

“I’ll start again,” he added.

Allen has recently become increasingly vocal about his Christian journey. He also spoke with fellow comedian Bill Maher about Maher’s “Club Random.”

The “Home Improvement” star has talked quite a bit about the Apostle Paul and the downsides of empty philosophy. See discussion:

Last September, Allen also revealed that he had a hard time offering a pardon to a drunk driver who killed his father when the performer was only 11 years old.

But Allen was deeply shocked when Erika Kirk, wife of conservative Christian commentator Charlie Kirk, surprised the world by standing on stage at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, and forgiving the man who allegedly killed Kirk.

“On the cross our Savior said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.'” That man, that young man, I forgive him. I forgive him because that’s what Christ did. And that’s what Charlie does,” Kirk said. “The answer to hatred is not hatred. The answer, we know from the Gospel, is love. Always love. Love for our enemies. Love for those who persecute us.”

Mr. Allen found these words very moving.

“The words Erica Kirk said about the man who killed her husband, ‘That man…that young man…I forgive him’ – that moment deeply impacted me,” Allen wrote to X. “I have struggled for over 60 years to forgive the man who killed my father.”

Starr continued, “I say those words right now as I type: ‘I forgive the man who killed my father.'” May peace be with you all. ”

Allen’s father, Gerald M. Dick, was killed in November 1964 when he was hit by a drunk driver, a tragedy that deeply affected Allen.

As for Allen’s Bible reading journey, the actor began opening up about his journey last year.

“[I]just finished reading the Old Testament. It’s such a gift when you get it out of the way and the words and meaning flow,” he wrote to X in June 2025. “This week, I’m currently reading a book on the Gospel of Paul. I’m a Roman Jew familiar with Plato, Stoicism, and other Greek schools. I’m amazed by page 7!”

The journey is now over. It will be interesting to see how Allen’s reading affects his life and what happens next.
