Prayer to be faithful to prayer
Christine F. Perry
Bible Reading:
“Dedicate yourself to prayer and be careful and grateful.” Colossians 4:2 NIV
Listen or read:
Every time I write about a topic, I’m always tested about it. The same goes for this article. When I sat down to write, I was struggling to pray! One of my favourite writers always says, “Don’t write from the empty well.” So L left, blinked his cursor, wrote down some poems, and spent time with the Lord. I had to confess my struggle with prayer. Da Carson, co-founder of the Evangelical Union, says, “Pray until we pray.” Prayer is spiritual discipline. It’s like a workout. You don’t always feel like it, but you know it’s good for you. Praying is not for the faint hearted man. Especially when you have prayed for certain unfulfilled requests for years. But I want to encourage you. God hears you.
Poem sal55:16-17 says:
“As for me, I call God,
And the Lord will save me.
Evening, morning and noon
I pray, cry out loud,
And he will hear me. ”
I want to encourage you to keep your journal and see how God answered your prayers. Once you’ve kept a diary, you can write down your prayer requests and once they’ve been answered, you can go back and mark them as answered. When you are disappointed by a prayer request that has not yet been answered, read your journal and see how many times God has answered it. As Colossians 4:2 says, this helps us to be careful and grateful.
Plus, there are many prayer warriors who have gone before us. George Mueller, Cory Ten Boom, Otto Kahning, and Marie. Sometimes when I feel discouraged, I go back and read or hear the stories of their answered prayer. The enemy loves to stop praying so that we don’t pray. Because when we don’t pray, his plans are not hampered. Our goal in praying what CS Lewis said is, “My hope is that when I die, everything in hell is rejoicing that I am out of the battle.”
Let’s pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for coming to you anytime and for listening to us. Lord, forgive us when we doubt whether prayer will work. Lord, you say we are your children and you love to hear us pray. Father, forgive us for our sins. Help us love you with your heart, heart, soul and strength. Also, help us to know how much you love us and that you are intimately familiar with all of our ways. Lord, you say in James 5:16 that the prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective. Lord, we are righteous for your sacrifice. I pray that you will help us in our distrust. Father, I pray that you will help us pray for the outcome and trust you. Help us grow not only in a walk with you, but in a life of prayer. Lord, we have nothing without you. We need you every day. And Lord, thank you for intercession for us. we love you. thank you! Amen!
