Prayer to honor the soldiers and women who have fallen our fall
By Lynette Kittle

Bible Reading:
“There is no better person in Greater Love. You will abandon your life for your friends” – John 15:13

Listen or read:

Why do we celebrate our anniversary? Sadly, many people in our country today don’t really know why the anniversary was established. They view it as a three-day holiday, mainly with off work and three days of holidays and family outings and outdoor fun.

“As an annual observance, American anniversary can be traced back to the end of the Civil War,” said William J. Federer, miracle author, historian and speaker of American history.

Originally called Decoration Day, it was the day when a loved one decorates the tomb of a fallen soldier. The anniversary was then renamed and was established to remember and honor all the servicemen and women who died in the American War. In 1868, it was officially designated on May 30 by the large army of the Republic, a federal veterans organization.

“It’s time to honor those who fell, to honor those who paid the final measure of dedication to our country,” explains Dr. Jerry Newcombe, Executive Director of Providence Forum.

Freedom is not freedom
Countless families have paid the most precious and most expensive prices on the planet for American freedom. Loss of military families, overwhelming loss of family and friends, sadness, sadness.

“We are mostly free, because others may be victimized on our behalf and we may be free. Anniversaries are an annual reminder of the debts we owe to those who have died while serving our nation,” explains Newcombe.

Whether they are members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or the US Coast Guard, their deaths are tragic and dying as fallen heroes is not so painful for those who love them and miss them. Their sudden passage can be extremely difficult for parents, spouses and children to accept and handle, and often without warning, they have no chance to say goodbye.

For members of the army who died in Christ
Like Christians, families know that fallen soldiers are with Christ, but they can try to understand how they fallen soldiers are in a crisis of faith and prayers for safety and protection seem to be lacking. The apostle Paul offers comfort and assures us in Philippians 1:21.

Just as they believe in Jesus Christ, fallen soldiers and women will acquire the eternal life of Christ, and their lives begin in heaven forever again and forever. As explained in John 11:25, “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and life; and those who believe in me will live even if they die.”

Revelation 21:3-4 describes the life they entered when they left this earth. “And then, “Look! God’s abode is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They are His people, and God Himself will be with them, and wipe all the tears out of their eyes.

Let’s pray:

Dear Father, I would like to thank many brave army men and women who lost their lives in service to our nation for the time they spent from their loved ones to protect our nation, protect and secure our nation, and ultimately lay their lives off of their lives for us. Today we want to put their lives on the line and honor them with the honor of their incredible sacrifices for our nation. We also ask for the families who have experienced the heartbreaking loss of fathers, sons, mothers, daughters and sisters to comfort them, relieve their grief and sorrow, and fill them with your peace. Lord, bring healing to their wounded hearts, we pray and let them experience joy in the precious memories of their military families. In the name of Jesus, Amen
