After the massive earthquake in Myanmar, Southeast Asia, hit a massive earthquake on Friday, March 28th, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints coordinated with other non-governmental organisations to provide relief to approximately half a million victims.

The earthquake and subsequent aftershocks killed an estimated 3,000 people and evacuated 200,000 people. The first earthquake was felt even in Thailand and China.

The Church’s Asian Regional President issued a statement following Quake on March 31.

I have read partially the statement. “During this period of sadness and uncertainty, we are committed to uniting with all affected communities and expanding our support to those in need.

The church offers $4 million in relief across the country, providing direct assistance to Care, International Medical Corps, Project Hope, Unicef ​​and The World Food Program, according to a news release on Thursday, May 1st on Churchofjesuschrist.org.

The church coordinated donations and service with these and other similar organizations over the years, including spending $1.45 billion in 2024 to care for those in need.

This project will work closely together to provide household kits, dignity kits, first aid kits, shelters and kitchen sets, water bottles, toilets, hand washing stations and water purifiers.

International Medical Corps

International Medical Corps distributes blankets, tarpaulins, cooking supplies, hygiene kits and two weeks of clean water.

Project hope

Project Hope supports hygiene kits, dignity kits, water distribution, solar lights, blankets, medicines, medical supplies, generators and mobile medical teams.

UNICEF

UNICEF supports sanitation kits, water provision, sanitation facilities construction and hand washing facilities, inter-agency emergency health kits, nutrition screening and treatment of 500 severely malnourished children.

World Food Program

Using donations of funds from the church, food programs around the world purchase and distribute rice or pulse. This is a species of legume plant.

As part of its ongoing response efforts, the Church is also working with several organizations to assess additional needs and relief efforts.

The church has three administrative regions in Asia. Northern Asia region, including Japan, Mongolia and South Korea. Philippines region. And the Asian region. According to the latest church statistics, 2,113 congregations all over Asia have nearly 1.3 million members.
