A prayer of patience as we wait for God’s perfect timing.

Bible reading:
But if we want something we don’t have yet, we will wait patiently for it. – Romans 8:25
Listen or read below:
“I’m more impatient than anyone else.” This musing occurred to me after I had a private conversation with two of my teens about the answers they were looking for. From my outsider’s perspective, it was clear that turning to the Lord would quickly guide and equip them as they anxiously sought clarity. And by being patient in the process, you will provide peace more directly. But the truth is, as I quickly realized in that moment, I too am guilty of the same thing: looking for answers and results right away. My natural inclination is to seek immediate and quick solutions, as I can feel anxious if I don’t know what to do, or frustrated by a foggy path forward. What I really have to ask for is patience.
what about you? Is your inner soul searching for answers, action, and guidance? Maybe you are feeling anxious about a situation that you think needs resolution, but in reality, you just need an infusion of peace as you wait on the Lord. Because truly, if you can remain patient as God’s plan unfolds, it will surely steady your agitated soul, smooth your scattered mind, and calm your unsteady heart. With patience, you will have more peace and be able to enjoy each moment of the day more. You’ll like it, you want it.
God’s Word reminds us that if we desire something we don’t yet have, be patient and wait for it. And while it’s hard to have hope for what we don’t yet have and what we don’t know will be, what gives us solid hope is what we know will be. And we know that God is good and that His goodness will follow us. We know that the Lord will provide, and that His provision will come at the perfect time. It may seem like we don’t have these things yet, but we certainly know that we will. God and His promises are our hope. Our only absolute hope. And when we place our hope in God and allow that bright hope to flow into every thought and soul of our soul, we will find more peace-filled patience to wait on God.
When our souls are swollen with discomfort and anxiety, we long for peace and patience. And when we put our hope in Jesus, we have it. When we express our hearts and desires to God. And it’s a time to thank God for what He has promised: to watch over us, to provide for us, to answer us, to give us peace. Please hold hope in your heart. And let us give thanks to God for all the patience He has shown us along the way. He still provides that and will continue to provide that. Patience can illuminate our lives with the peace we long for…while waiting for the Lord…to unfold His good and perfect plan.
You and I can both be patient. Because our hope is in an steadfast and faithful God. In God’s infallible and perfect provision and in His infallible and perfect plan.
Let’s pray:
Lord God,
You are the God of all hope. And all my hopes are in you. In a world that rattles me with confusion, questions, and temptations for something better, I often seek answers, solutions, and change. But I need the patience to wait for you more than I need to rush and stress what to do and what hasn’t happened yet. I am patient when I place my hope in you and your promises. A promise that you have good plans for me and will guide me and provide everything I need at the right time. Lord, I praise you for your love and patience that has brought me precious peace and joy throughout my life.
Thank you, Jesus. In your wonderful name, amen.

Many sincere believers go through seasons when their prayers feel empty, their Bibles feel silent, and God feels mysteriously absent. Especially for leaders, these seasons can feel confusing, discouraging, and even embarrassing.
