Prayers to protect our hearts
By: Alicia Searl

Bible Reading:
And God’s peace, which transcends all understanding, protects your heart and your heart of Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:7

Listen or read:

As a mother of two teenagers, I can’t even start counting the number of times I told them to protect their hearts. But they quickly said, “I know, mom,” sadly, their actions tell a different story.

When I think about it, my actions don’t always match my mind and heart. So it raises the question of what it really means to protect your heart and mind (and how it looks). Is it really easier than I say? What’s more, is that what we casually say as Christians, but not necessarily followed?

Well, my fellow believers will dig into God’s Word and discover how protecting our hearts really makes sense and why it is so precious to our God.

We find the reference in Proverbs 4:23 to “protect our hearts” and the New Testament “protecting our hearts and hearts” in Philippians 4:7 to “protect our hearts and hearts.” This has a purposeful purpose. When the Old Testament encounters the New Testament, it establishes that two wills become one living words of God. Our God declares that he is omniscient (he knows everything), the Almighty (he is full of power), and omnipresent (he is everywhere, in every space, in every place, in every time). When we see His words like this, it transforms our perspective from us and into our incredible divine character and nature.

When we unleash these biblical cross-references, it soon becomes clear that there is a focus on their nature. Ours The heart and source where everything flows. Good and evil, pure and evil, care or neglect we provide. If we intentionally do not maintain our mental attitude, the seduction of this world will naturally shake us, and we all sin and consume our hearts with deceit (Jeremiah 17:9). This is a rather bold statement, as God gives a warning here through the words of King Solomon.

Then, when we read Philippians 4:6-8, Paul teaches us that we must humbly and politely give God our hearts through prayer and supplications. Philippians 4:8 commands us to focus on the truth, honor, fair, pure, noble, nice, honorable, and righteous.

We are to set our hearts and hearts to those that respect and please the Lord. God does the behind-the-scenes work in our minds, but we are called to trust him, allowing him to move in our lives to serve a greater purpose. Read Jeremiah 29:11, Ephesians 2:10, Romans 8:28 and see more cross-references, reminding us that our lives come with custom plans from our good and faithful fathers.

So, why we may understand why we protect our hearts and our hearts, but do we actually proceed with it with humility and faithful obedience? As you spend your day, start by asking yourself three questions:

Does this activity bring me closer or farther from God? Will my current influence and friends help me grow my faith and focus on what is good, pure, noble and right? Or am I in a pattern of bent my soul towards sinful temptation?

I strive to become friends, “actors” of words and practice these teachings. We will gladly submit our hearts and hearts to God, infinite, sovereign, holy, compassionate, compassionate, merciful, very good!

Let’s pray:

God,

We will be happy to come before you for your presence and heart that longs to connect with you on the pages of your precious words. We humbly ask that you change us and breathe peace in a place of our lives that requires your mercy, grace and forgiveness. As we do our daily activities, please guide us and guide us to show our favor and make choices to honor you. As the snares of the world seduce us and try to shake us, we long for your truth and develop a rich desire that draws us to your beloved arms. Give us faithful friends to do this life while holding us accountable for our actions (Proverbs 27:17). We are very grateful that you are an omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent God. You know each of us intimately and personally, bringing peace when our hearts and minds are bothered. We pray that you will be a loyal and dotted child.

we love you. Amen.
