Prayer to God to strengthen mothers who feel exhausted

Bible reading:
“Adam named his wife Eve, for she would be the mother of all living creatures.” – Genesis 3:20

Have you ever felt exhausted as a mother? If so, you’re not alone.
That’s the reality of motherhood. As mothers, we keep going even when we feel exhausted. Because that’s what many of us do. They energetically and selflessly care for those around them, often at the expense of neglecting themselves.
It’s not just physical fatigue. Often it also affects us negatively through emotional and mental exhaustion. A mother’s life is filled with showing up, listening, encouraging, supporting, and praying for her family.
Many mothers think that their constant efforts will get easier as their children grow older, but often the demands just change and sometimes even intensify. As children go to college, get jobs, get married, and start families of their own, new challenges and responsibilities arise.
God knew in advance what He wanted from women. It is to follow in the footsteps of Eve and become the mother of all living things. We spend most of our lives carrying, giving birth to, and nurturing new and growing life. God entrusts us with his most precious creation: life, made in his image.
As 1 Timothy 2:15 reminds us, “But women can be saved through childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness with decorum.”
The mother bears the image of God in her womb.
Sometimes we forget that we carry the very image of God in our wombs. Jesus never lost sight of his connection to the Father. In John 12:45 Jesus said, “He who sees me sees him who sent me.”
Again, in John 14:9 we read, “Jesus answered, ‘Philip, have I been among you a long time, and yet you do not know me? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show me the Father?'”
Although our children are not gods like Jesus, Jesus’ words can help shape the way we view them. They are God’s representatives on earth, and although they are not perfect or sinless, they are created in God’s image.
Our children and ourselves bear the image of God, and we have a responsibility to let that image shine through us.
Motherhood takes time
Being a mother is a huge responsibility. That’s why we need God’s wisdom and the guidance of the Holy Spirit to accomplish this.
Carrying and delivering babies and teaching them life skills from infancy to adulthood and beyond is a lifelong mission. That’s why many modern women choose a different path.
Some women who want a different lifestyle feel that motherhood demands too much of them and that raising children requires them to devote their time, energy, and life itself. They are right to recognize how profoundly it changes a person’s life. Being a mother is exhausting, time-consuming, requires selflessness, personal sacrifice, etc.
Mothers also experience heartache
Being a mother can be exhausting, but the blessings, benefits, and rewards often outweigh what is given.
Still, many mothers face difficulties, disappointments, challenging moments and experience deep heartache while raising children.
In difficult times like these, we can draw close to God and find comfort in His arms. Our heavenly Father is merciful and understands sorrow, sorrow, suffering, and even regret when it comes to loving and caring deeply.
As Genesis 6:6 says, “The Lord regretted that he had created man on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled.”
Let’s pray:
Dear father,
Our hearts are filled with gratitude for the gift of motherhood. Thank you for entrusting us as women with the life you create and breathe into our wombs. Lord, every time you look at your children’s faces, remember that they were created in your image. Strengthen us to impress daily on their hearts that they are Your representatives on earth. May your love flow freely through us and reach our children and show them how deeply loved they are by you and us. Strengthen us today to relieve the fatigue we sometimes feel after years of caring for our families. Help us to lovingly care for the precious life You have given us, just as You care for us.
In difficult times, Lord, comfort us in the arms of your steadfast love. Refresh, renew, and restore us so that we may continue to faithfully love and serve our families. Fill us with your wisdom so that we can guide our children to love you and obtain salvation and eternal life through your Son Jesus.
In the name of Jesus, amen.
