Prayer to prepare our hearts for spring
By Lynette Kittle

Bible Reading:
“Now the Lord God had planted a garden in Eden in the East, and he placed the man he formed” – Genesis 2:8

Read or listen to the following:

The cold winters, the cold times of barren trees, bushes, and the flu outbreak can seem very long, let alone months go by, but as the months go by, there is a sweet, hopeful promise of spring. A lovely lush spring brings new births and begins on Earth. There, green vegetation replaces barren land. God has moved it, and everything is born, and as we know it, makes it and prepares it by planting seeds and trees at the beginning of time. He is the one who keeps it blooming, bringing new growth and fruits from the vines and trees. It’s his will and his plans.

God is the maker of all new things

Spring and new growth come straight from God’s heart. That was his idea, as he is the maker of all new things. In his plan, he created Adam and took care of all the new springs of life each season. Genesis 2:5 states, “Now the shrubs had not yet appeared on earth, and the plants had not yet been born. The Lord God did not send rain to the earth, and no one worked on the ground.”

Genesis 2:6-7 explains what happened. “But the stream came out of the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground. Then the Lord God formed man from the dust on the ground, breathing the breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living creature.”

When God inhale Adam, he said, “The Lord God raised all kinds of trees from the ground, delighting his eyes, making them a tree that is good for food. In the middle of the garden was the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil” (Genesis 2:9). Even after Adam and Eve had sinned, God promised, in his faithfulness to mankind, “unless the earth endures, and the seeds y and harvest, cold, heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease” (Genesis 8:22).

What is necessary to spiritually prepare our minds for spring

Just as planting seeds brings physically new growth, as the Acts Paul explains in 1 Corinthians 3:7-9, spiritually planting and watering. A colleague in the service of God.

Just as spring comes out, as Isaiah 43:19 explains, God does something new in us. “Look, I’m doing something new! Now it’s springing up. Are you not aware of it? I’m making a path in the flow of the wilderness and the wasteland.” In the period of physical spring, we can ask God to lead us to find ways to nurture spiritual spring. So, God plant, water, and water the people God leads us by investing his encouragement, His truth, His prayer, His time, and providing practical help. They are also looking for ways to follow up plantings that others have invested in by helping others with their efforts.

Let’s pray:

Dear Father, our hearts are deeply grateful for the spring you have given us on earth each year, your faithfulness and your promise to send us spring as long as the earth survives. Guide us by evaluating everything it offers us. Also help us see the spiritual value of spring we plant and water others, cultivate and prepare our individual foundations. Help us to be guided by your Holy Spirit. In the name of Jesus, Amen
