Christian leaders from across the United States will gather on February 26 for College Day of Prayer, an initiative to encourage churches, organizations and individuals to pray for Gen Z and young people.
Ty Lam, executive director of the Revival is Family Foundation, told CBN News that the event, which he is helping organize, will be held at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, at 8 p.m. ET, and will be streamed on CBN News, among others.
“This day is a historic day of prayer that we revived about 15 years ago,” he said. “And what that looks like is, the last Thursday in February is a day of prayer. Believers from across America participate from their cities and homes, and each year tens of thousands of different gatherings are held in homes, churches, and campuses, and mothers groups, student groups, and churches come together to pray for the college campus down the street.”
Lamb believes these prayers have borne powerful fruit over the years and that God has shown up on campus in powerful ways.
The purpose of broadcasting the university’s Day of Prayer is to “unify the various prayer gatherings that take place across the country.” At this year’s event, people like UniteUS’s JP Pokulda and Tonya Pruitt will speak, along with other leaders who will help spread the message of prayer.
“This is an opportunity for believers to pray together with believers from across the United States, whether in small groups, individuals or large groups,” he said. “And to believe in God for the 30,000 students right next to them, and for students around the world.”

Lam said there has been a big change among Gen Z since the pandemic. This generation has a unique path as they have dealt with anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, and other issues including global uncertainty and a difficult economy.
“What we’ve seen… was just a watershed moment,” he said, referring to the 2023 Asbury revival that made international headlines. “Asbury was perhaps the first time in their generation that Gen Z witnessed God move. It’s not just something they see and hear about in history books; they witness it and can remember it in their lifetimes: that God is actually the God who sees and hears their prayers, their needs, their pain.”
Since this monumental moment, which became a period of 16 days of constant prayer at Asbury University, college students have flocked to receive Jesus. Mr Lam said the totality of the mental recovery that is unfolding is incredible.
“It was truly amazing to see students come together to preach the gospel,” Lamb said. “We were overwhelmed by the hunger to find hope in Jesus and the openness to truly hear the gospel and seek truth.”
With Bible sales exploding, Lamb said there is much to be excited about.
“We’re just amazed at this next generation’s hunger to engage with God’s Word and ask really deep questions, ‘What is truth? Where are we going in life? What is important?'” he said.
