A prayer that reflects the humble heart of Jesus
Written by Kelly Eichberger

Bible reading:
Nothing is done out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, with humility value others more than yourself and look to each other’s interests rather than your own. In our relationships with each other, let us have the same mindset as Christ Jesus. (Philippians 2:3-5)

Listen or read below:

There’s no good way to express this. I had a struggle with sin that I was unaware of for a long time. That’s no surprise since it’s a despicable act. pride. Looking back, I can see that for years I subconsciously believed that I deserved certain opportunities, recognition, recognition, and benefits based on what I had achieved, what I had learned, how good I was, or based on who I had worked hard to become. I think I was thinking a little too much about myself. Although I know that humility is a God-honoring quality that I should always aspire to. And not only was I underutilizing that quality, but the weed of pride in my heart was blocking my ability to truly humble myself like Jesus, and encourage us to do the same. And I didn’t know that either.

Are there any areas in your life where pride is likely to exist? Do you feel like you are worth something? Perhaps a change in circumstances, more comfort or convenience, less struggle or suffering, fairer or more favorable treatment? I would also like to ask you this: Do you know who or in what situations you need humility?

Personally, my desire for a more respected and established position can sometimes be more pronounced and present than it should be, even though I know I don’t deserve more favor, acceptance, or recognition. It is proud, but never humble.

Being humble is the attitude of mind that says, “This is not about me.” What I am or am not experiencing is not about me. What other people have that I don’t have is not mine. What I’m doing today, the good things that will happen, the struggles that may surface. The children I have, the money I earn. My home, my job, my gifts and talents. This life I’m living. It’s not just my problem.

Romans 11:36 says, “For from Him all things are, and through Him, and for Him.” To him be eternal glory! Amen.

To God, all things exist. Not just some things, but all things. Everything you have, everything you do, everything he allows you, it belongs to him and belongs to him. his glory. Not ours.

Just like Jesus, He is our perfect example of humility. A person who had no pride. Jesus lived his life to glorify the Father. Humbly renounce your comforts. Be humble and put everyone who joins your path above your own needs and desires. He humbly carried his cross and died. Suffer for you and me and give glory to God. Pointing others to the Father.

Paul cautions us in Philippians 2:3-5 to avoid doing anything out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, with humility value others more than yourself and look to each other’s interests rather than your own. In our relationships with each other, let us have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.

How is your heart? Is there a hidden pride inside you that whispers, “I’m worth more”? Is it to have more, to have more, to live a more comfortable and easy life? Or is your life beginning to reflect more and more the humble heart of Jesus? A life that demonstrates the sacrificial love of Christ. A humble sense of service to oneself. It shows the world that you are at the center of everything you do and everything you are.

May it be our mission to spend our lives humbly reflecting on Jesus, honoring and praising him, and pointing those around us to Jesus. Bringing our loved ones and all those the Lord has placed in our path to our King and Savior. And may we, along with all our brothers and sisters in Christ, continue to hope in the truth that one day we will sit next to Christ in heaven and share in his glory.

Let’s pray:

Lord Jesus, I desire your pure and humble heart. But the truth is, as the world whispers to me that I should live a more comfortable and convenient life, pride can easily creep into my thoughts. Sometimes we begin to think that we deserve better status and treatment. But more than that, Lord, I desire the humility you imitate. I know this is your perfect method and plan. And it is in the humility of putting others before yourself and lowering your own desires that I respect and reflect you.

You have freely given me unconditional, unfailing love and my salvation. So, Lord, that’s enough. I praise you that one day I will sit next to you and share in your glory. How wonderful you are!

In your precious name we pray, amen.

Marriage is one of God’s most beautiful gifts, but it is also one of the most difficult. Even couples who deeply love each other and want to honor God can find themselves stuck in the same conversations, the same misunderstandings, the same frustrations, and wonder why nothing ever changes.
