As part of its efforts to complete 100 humanitarian projects in South America to commemorate the 100th anniversary of its dedication to evangelism on the continent, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints conducted two significant outreach efforts in Bahia Blanca, Argentina, on October 16.

These efforts represent projects 76 and 77 of the 100 humanitarian efforts the Church is planning across South America to commemorate its 100th anniversary, the Church’s Argentina Newsroom reported on the initiative.

This effort reflects the Church’s teaching of following Jesus Christ by serving others.

In cooperation with Argentina’s Center for Freedom, Solidarity and Integration, the church donated 10 wheelchairs to people with disabilities and people in need. The presentation ceremony was attended by award recipients, their families, community members and church leaders.

Bahia Blanca Argentina Stake President Juan C. Moura officiated the ceremony. He emphasized the organization’s commitment to inclusivity, equal opportunity, and Christlike service.

One of the recipients, Gisela Villarreal, received the wheelchair for the first time and expressed her gratitude, saying the gift had given her increased mobility and independence. Participants said the event was a moment of community unity and hope.

Medical equipment for caring for newborns

On the same day, the Church also donated medical equipment to the neonatal department of the Penna Hospital in Bahia Blanca, Argentina. The donation was aimed at strengthening the hospital’s capacity to care for newborns.

The handover ceremony was held at the hospital, where church members, medical staff and local leaders signed a donation agreement and toured the neonatal care facility.

According to the church’s Argentina newsroom, hospital director Jorge Moyano expressed his gratitude for the support, saying, “We are grateful that we have people who will accompany us in this effort.”

President Iván Guzmán, President of the Argentina Bahia Blanca Villa Mitres Stake, reiterated the motivation behind this project.

“We are doing all this out of love for God and love for our neighbors,” President Guzman said. “We would like to thank you for your efforts.”
