Prayer to see God’s blessings in each season
Written by Vivian Bricker
Bible reading:
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1).
Listen or read below:
Throughout the different seasons of the year, memories can come flooding back to our hearts. Some seasons may bring many joys, while others may bring many hardships. As the holiday season approaches, it may be beneficial to focus on God’s blessings. All good gifts come from the Father, and it is imperative that we pay special attention to the Father’s blessings (James 1:17).
Apart from God nothing is good for us (Psalm 16:2). As the seasons change and our lives respond to those changes, we need to seek God. Even when we only go through difficult times, we see God’s blessings in our lives. God can use even the worst situations and turn them for our benefit (Romans 8:28). God is known for breathing life into the dead (Ezekiel 37).
As Thanksgiving approaches, challenge yourself to the beauty of God’s blessings. This is what I am personally trying to do as I am currently struggling to find the good in my life.
My sister recently showed me her monthly calendar, and this year’s theme is Paddington Bear. This month’s photo features Paddington falling to the ground with the caption: “Why do bad things always happen to me?” Although it was a silly photo, it touched my heart because I often have questions like that myself.
Sometimes it is difficult to see God’s blessings. Maybe you too are going through these struggles and are unable to see God’s mercy this season. With prayer and hope, the tide can change. But even if you don’t, know that God is always with you. Through every hill and valley, the Lord is right there (Psalm 23:1-6).
The Bible teaches, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). When we look at this focused passage, we see wisdom shining through. There is a time for everything under heaven, a season for every activity. This means that the season we’re in won’t last forever. Every season has its time and place, and it will come to an end someday. You may not be feeling your best right now, but it won’t last forever.
See God’s blessings despite the hardships of this world and strive to trust in His kindness, faithfulness, and love. God is our good Father and He truly wants what is best for us. Look for ways to see the Lord’s blessings during this season and come to Him in prayer. Pray that God will bless you and surround you with His love. The truth is, God’s love is the greatest blessing of all, and He pours it out in abundance to all of us (Romans 8:37-39). If you don’t know how to pray to God today, we can go pray to God together.
Let’s pray:
Dear God, help me to see your blessings in every season. I’m a little nervous about this season, but please let me meet you. Your blessings are always around me and fill me with great joy. Despite the difficult challenges and struggles I am facing right now, I focus on you.
Please protect my heart from negativity and help me see your blessings. I know that they will always surround me, just as your presence will always surround me. Walk with me in this new season and help me remember that You are with me forever. There is a time and place for everything and I applaud you for being the orchestrator behind it all.
In your son’s name we pray, amen.
