Prayer for feeling forgotten by God
Written by Rachel Wojo

Bible reading:
“Then you will call, and the Lord will answer you. You will cry out for help, and the Lord will say, ‘Here I am.'” – Isaiah 58:9

Listen or read below:

I’ll never forget my first conflict with a colleague at work. What started as a simple disagreement over how something should be handled quickly escalated into a more serious issue. Instead of finding common ground, tensions continued to rise because we saw the situation in completely different ways. Before I knew it, it felt like she had turned the entire office against me.

The feeling of isolation was devastating. When you enter the break room, the conversation stops. Even when I sent an email, I received a short and cold reply. I felt like my perspective didn’t matter. I may as well have become invisible.

But what hurt even more was the silence I felt from God. I was praying and it seemed like my prayers were bouncing off the ceiling. Days turned into weeks and I began to wonder if God had completely forgotten about me.

Isaiah 58:9 says, “Then you will call, and the Lord will answer you; you will cry out for help, and the Lord will say, ‘Here I am.'” This isn’t just a good promise. It is God’s personal assurance that when we cry out to Him, He will not ignore or forget us.

When I finally confessed my hurt, anger, and confusion to the Lord and admitted that I had bitterness in my heart, something changed. He gave me the peace I desperately needed to think clearly about the situation. Additionally, He has given me the grace to consider forgiveness even when I feel wronged.

Office dynamics didn’t magically change overnight. But God met me where I was and gave me what I needed most: His presence and His peace. He reminded me that silence does not mean God is absent. He also reminded me that it might not have been me who created the distance between us.

The Hebrew word for “answer” in this verse means to respond or to pay attention. God is not distracted by other events. When you call out to God, you receive His full attention. When you cry out for help, the Lord immediately says, “Here I am.”

You may be in a situation right now where you feel like everyone has forgotten about you. But today’s scriptures and promises remind us that God is continually aware of our pain, His willingness to help, and the assurance of His presence. you are not forgotten.

Let’s pray:

Heavenly Father,

Now I’m showing you a place where I feel completely forgotten and alone. Cold relationships, situations where you feel misunderstood, and silence that makes you wonder if God is really listening to your prayers. I’ll be honest, when you don’t answer me the way I expect, sometimes I start to think you’ve forgotten about me. But Your Word promises that when I call, You will answer. When I cry out for help, you say, “I’m here.”

Please remember that your silence does not mean your absence and your attention to me will never waver. When you feel alone and alone, remember that you are always with me. When it seems like everyone is against me, let me remind you that you are on my side. Fill me with your peace today, especially in areas where I feel forgotten. Thank you for seeing me, hearing me, and knowing exactly what I need.

In the name of Jesus, amen.

Thank you for joining us today. I pray that these words, which remind you of God’s unfailing care, bring comfort to the lonely places in your heart.
