Prayer to get through the end of daylight saving time

Bible reading:
“For through wisdom your days are lengthened, and years are added to your life.” – Proverbs 9:11

How many of you are thinking, “Oh no, it’s daylight saving time again!”
Moving back an hour doesn’t sound too shocking, but it appears to take a few weeks for people to adjust, causing some stumbles and confusion for a few weeks with people being late or early to church, appointments, work, and events, and there are a number of side effects of the time change listed.
It also gets a little brighter in the morning and gets dark a little later in the evening. When you finally get used to everything, time returns to your original time zone.
Some states, Indiana and Arizona, will change while others remain the same, creating even more confusion.
So how can you approach daylight saving time with an optimistic attitude? These six tips will help you get through the adjustment period.
1. Believe that every day is good. No matter what time zone God places us in, we can trust that it is the best time for us to live. No matter how many hours behind or ahead of yesterday, you can trust that it’s a good thing.
Genesis 1:31 describes how God viewed the created day and night. “God saw everything that he had made, and it was very good. And there was an evening, and there was a morning, and it was the sixth day.”
2. Dedicate our day and time to God. If we give all of our day and time to God, it doesn’t matter what time zone we currently live in. And whether we are late or an hour early, God is still with us.
Romans 14:5 assures us: “Some consider one day more sacred than another, but some consider each day the same; each of you must be completely sure in his own heart.”
3. Trust God to guide us through change. Sometimes changing times can make us a little confused, but if we trust God to guide us and help us through, we will be okay with adapting.
Jesus assured us in Matthew 6:34. “So do not worry about tomorrow, for you will worry about tomorrow, for each day has enough troubles in itself.”
4. Prioritize your time. Either way, whether we lose or gain an hour, we want to make the most of every moment.
As Psalm 90:12 urges, “Teach me to number my days, that I may obtain a heart of wisdom.”
5. Trust God for missed opportunities. When changing times cause us to miss an appointment or event, or come too early or too late, we choose to trust God, knowing that He will guide us and even the missed opportunities will work together for His good, as Romans 8:28 assures us:
If we truly believe and trust that God is directing our steps, we will be able to see missed opportunities through the eyes of faith in what God is doing in our lives.
As Jeremiah 10:23 reassures us, “Lord, I know that a man’s life is not his own. It is not for him to direct his steps.”
6. Avoid complaining. Complaining and complaining about daylight saving time changes does no good to us or to anyone who will listen to us. As the saying goes, “If you can’t say anything nice, it’s better not to say anything at all.” It’s better to remain silent.
1 Peter 3:10 explains: “A person who loves life and wants to enjoy good days must guard his tongue from evil and his lips from lying words.”
Let’s pray:
Dear father,
Our hearts are deeply grateful for the days and hours you have created for our lives, for coming before and behind us every day, protecting us and guiding our steps.
Help us to persevere through the daylight saving time changes and trust and trust in You to guide our steps.
When we feel frustrated or angry about having to adjust our daily schedules, we ask You to calm our hearts and minds and focus our eyes to see how You are cooperating with these changes for our benefit.
Guide us through these hourly changes in a merciful and loving way that glorifies You and strengthens us.
In the name of Jesus,
Amen.
