Prayer to see yourself through the eyes of God
By Kennesha Sanders Liddy

Bible Reading:
But you are not like that, because you are the chosen people. You are a royal priest, a holy nation, and a property of God Himself. As a result, you can show God’s goodness to others. – 1 Peter 2:9

Can you imagine how light we would feel if we could see ourselves through God’s eyes? What weight can be lifted? All burdens, condemnation and judgment will be gone. We are so hard at judging ourselves that we believe God thinks the same way about us. So I remind you that God sees us through the completed work of Jesus Christ on the cross.

God’s thoughts are not ours, and His way is not ours. It is very easy to doubt our salvation, dismiss our righteousness, and forget that it is ourselves. One was a gift, and the other belonged to us through Jesus’ sacrifice. When God sees us, he sees that our debts are paid in full, and he sees the righteousness we wear through Christ, and we see that we are chosen by him, the royal priest, the holy nation, and his own possessions. Jesus’ sacrifice was so perfect and perfect that no one could pull us out of God’s hand. If we belong to him, we are His eternal. Our God does not do half the job. What he started, he completes it.

In God’s eyes, even before the world began, before Jesus chose to become a sacrificial lamb, God saw our worth. They wanted to give humanity an outlet, as we were all destined forever without Christ. That is when Jesus chose to die for us. When parents are blessed with children, whether adopted or through biological birth, we consider them beautiful. They smell, their complexion and even their small toes are perfect. We saw God make us vulnerable, helpless, doomed to hell, love us and choose to save us. When we see ourselves through God’s eyes, we consider ourselves loved. Not at the surface level, but unconditionally. Whether we love him or not. He still loves us if we ruined it after we trusted him. His loving gaze to us is immovable, unchanging and constant. What we lack is when we consider God as merely a human being. We amortize those who treat us unfairly, but God is not the man he should be lying to.

John 3:16 is very true. God loves us. We were forgiven when he saw us. Our sins have been thrown into the sea of forgetfulness and will never be used against us again. The Bible, so far, our God has removed our sins, as long as the East comes from the West. When God sees us, he knows that he does not look at us in condemnation. It makes me want to worship, sing, dance and enlarge the Lord’s name. I am honored with His mercy and grace, thanking Him for loving Him and praise Him. I also want to share my faith with people outside the crease. Sin separates us from God, so seeing myself through God’s eyes motivates me to live a holy life. It encourages me to resist temptation rather than not sin, so I can continue to enjoy the sweet fellowship God and I can continue to share.

Let’s pray:

Thank you Abba’s Father for being such a wonderful god. You are worthy of praise. Thank you for taking care of me. I know you will always see me, as you are Elroy, the God you see. Help me see myself through your eyes and walk with confidence in your love and forgiveness. I want to live freely, serve you, put you first, and live a sacred life by running away from temptation. Thank you for choosing me. It feels so good to be chosen by you. Thank you for looking at me as a royal priest by making you accessible through prayer. I can always come before your throne and come with you know that you will always answer. Thank you for viewing me as a sacred nation that reflects your choices and character. And thank you for looking at me as your own property. No matter what happens, I know that it will always be yours. Whenever there is a difficult or doubt about who I am, you will help me see myself through your eyes as a kind and beloved sinner, saved only by your grace, given your forgiveness and love. May this tool humble me in front of you and not be filled with pride. Lord, I love you. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
