For more than 40 years, President Russell M. Nelson has served as a senior leader at the Church of Jesus Christ for Latter-day Saints. This was the quorum president of the 12 apostles, and now as a prophet and church president.
In addition to that, in addition to his professional career as an internationally renowned cardiac surgeon and medical researcher, President Nelson has given life to serving in the church, including many wards and bets.
Born on September 9, 1924 to less active parents at church, he was allowed to attend Sunday school and was baptized at the age of 16. He graduated from high school the same year, and then went on to the University of Utah for his undergraduate doctorate and medical doctorate.
Calling out of Utah wards after medical school education
While completing a medical residency at the University of Minnesota in Minnesota, she served as a counselor for the bishop stationed in Washington, DC while stationed in Washington, DC during her two-year term in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. Ward.
After returning to Utah in 1955, he called the ward and the pile.
He is called as Priest Quarterly Advisor for Garden Park District, Bonneville Co., Ltd., Salt Lake City. As a member of Bonneville’s Stake YMMIA supervisor, he is the equivalent of today’s stake’s young male president.
Temple Square Missionary
From 1955 to 1965, he served as a missionary at Temple Square every Thursday afternoon. The call came from Elder Richard L. Evans, an apostle responsible for the official duties of Temple Square.
Stake President
He was called in 1964 as chairman of Salt Lake City’s Bonneville shares. Until 1971, when he was called the general president of Sunday School. The counselor for the stake presidency was Joseph B. Worthlin. He also served in the second half of the 12-person quorum from October 1986 until his death on December 1, 2008.
Sunday School President
He was called as the head of Sunday School in July 1971 and served for eight years. Church leaders only extended calls if they could serve while continuing their work as cardiac surgeons.
Regional Representative
He was called to represent the community in 1979, and about half of his four and a half years of tenure oversaw 14 stakes at Brigham Young University, and later oversaw the Kerns Utah area stakes until his 1984 call for the apostolic position. The calling of “12 Regional Representatives” began in 1976 – training and supporting stake presidents within a particular region was replaced by the regional authorities Severiz in 1995.

Convened by Church President Spencer W. Kimball, on April 7, 1984, one of the two new apostles who took office in general conference in April 1984, and Darrin H. Oaks. Before becoming president of the church, he served in the quorum for almost 34 years.
The quorum president of the 12 apostles
On July 15th, 2015, after the death of President Boyd K. Packer, he was set up in turn as President Thomas S. Monson as President of President Quorum. He served before President Monson served until his death, and was separated as president of the Church.
Prophets and Latter-day Saints President of Jesus Christ Church
On January 14th, 2018, he was persistent and separated as the 17th president of the Church by a quorum of 12 apostles at the top of Salt Lake Temple. I’m currently serving.
