Prayer for new excitement to study the word
By: Joe Navarro
Bible Reading:
Because God’s Word is lively and sharper than the two-end sword that pierces the division of the soul and spirit, the division of the joints and bone marrow, and discerns the thoughts and intentions of the mind. – Hebrews 4:12
It’s easy to spend a season when reading the Bible is a daily or even a struggle. Distractions in life, mental fatigue, or simply not feeling “inspiration” can lead us to lose our passion for words. But God’s Word is not intended to be merely another item on our to-do list. It can breathe fresh life into a live, active, tired soul (Hebrews 4:12). Sometimes, what we need most is simply asking God to rekindle our desires. A simple and sincere prayer can rekindle the spark.
Renewing excitement often starts with a change of perspective. Rather than approaching the Bible as a textbook, it approaches it as a letter from your father, full of wisdom, revision, love and personal guidance. Ask questions, take notes, pause and reflect. Sometimes, whether you’re trying out new translations, listening to the audio Bible, or joining a learning group, switching methods can bring new depth and joy. As you become more intentionally involved, you begin to become more clearly aware of God’s voice and see how relevant God’s truth is to your everyday life.
Ultimately, the goal of Bible study is not information, but change. The longer you spend on God’s Word, the more you will realize that you are changing yourself, not by obligation but by joy. The truth encourages you today: The Bible is not a burden, but a gift that is waiting to be released every day with fresh wonders. Are you happy to see God renew your heart for your words today?
Let’s pray:
Father, I come to you honestly – sometimes my heart feels far away, and my excitement for your words fades under the weight of the distractions of life. But I know that your words are alive and powerful, and I am craving that intimacy once again. Rekindle the deep passion within me to seek you through the Bible. Open my eyes to see beauty, truth, life on every page. Mix my spirit with fresh hunger to know you more, and above all, cherish your voice.
Lord, forgive me for the times and everyday times when I casually dealt with your words. Every time I open the Bible, know that you are ready to speak, and help me approach it with adoration and expectations. Burn my heart with joy and wonder as I will meet you in a new way. Tell me to please your truth and make it change every day. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
