Prayer for the presence of God in the quiet season
By Keri Eichberger

Bible Reading:
“But as to me, I look with hope for the Lord, I will wait for God, my Savior, and my God will hear me.” – Micah 7:7

Listen or read:

Life is like a vast season waiting for you. A collection of countless waves of large, small waits – short bursts and long lull changes. And sometimes, when we embrace the next new thing, life can lose its charm and excitement. Our days can even look a little quieter and quiet. In our long-term pass of time while waiting for God, the gift of all good things, to bring about some shift or actively answer prayer. And in these seasons, God Himself can even be silent. I had waited a vast period of time for the Lord to open the door, respond to very personal prayers, and resolve chronic conditions. And now I feel silent in all these areas. Certainly, life continues to swell with confusion and noise in some respects, but in some specific places, the stagnation casts a dim shadow on my current day.

Vulnerable, my current and regular issues seem to sometimes embody what I wanted, what I wanted, what I didn’t, or what I wanted to feel like in my life the dull lull. And when I am waiting for God’s goodness or one of his bold moves and anticipating that I will move, I forget to focus on his existence. I don’t notice the good things he is in front of me. And this is quite a shame. Because I basically steal my joy every day.

How can I make it relevant? When you are waiting for something to happen or change, or when your surroundings look more quiet, do you focus on God’s presence and prioritize praise? Or will you be consumed by what you dream about? I was in both places. But I think we all sinned for missing out on our blessings before us because we are misdirected at uncertain possibilities and odds, rather than the specific promise of God and His existence.

But here’s what I know. Our God is always with us, and He is the God of rich and infinite blessings. This is certainly true. He hasn’t given it. He pours constantly. Blessing after blessing, gifts on top of gifts. The problem is that we don’t always notice them. We don’t always notice him. But, wow, when we do, there is a lot of joy. And we all know that we all want joy. While quiet, while we wait, always – we want joy. And it is joy that our Savior presence offers… when we acknowledge it.

And that’s what it takes. Turning over our Savior God, he acknowledges wonders in his loving presence and his work. Recognize the beauty that is given to you in the slow, quiet seasons. And every season. No matter what the sound or speed of the setting now, we can now call his name because he is here. And he listens. He always offers himself. He always has a wealth and joy. We are always hopeful because he is always there.

With hopeful eyes wide open, let us see His beautiful blessings as we wait.

Let’s pray:

Lord God, you are the God of hope. You pour blessings on the day of blessings, even on days that appear to be more silent. But Lord, you will never be silent. You are always giving and always giving that you are always pouring out the perfect part of your infinite blessing. I long for your eyes to open my eyes wide to your offering and gorgeous love. When I find the shadow surrounding me, I want to fill it with it. You are my Savior, you will provide me with everything I need, and I will wait for your glorious purpose and plans to unfold before me. Lord, I admire your perfection and I respect your goodness and faithfulness. Your mighty name, Amen.
