The former Marine told her daughter and her friends to leave them there as he and O’Brien chased the suspect.
“I thought to myself, ‘Well, I don’t have a weapon, so what am I going to do?’ So I just grabbed an empty grocery cart and kicked him out as hard as I could,” Korakowski said.
In the car park, Korakovsky attacks the suspect in the ankle with a cart. The attacker scrambled uninterrupted before Korakovsky could slap the cart on him. I chased the parking lot.
“He was screaming something about him being a soldier and that everyone at Walmart was a bad guy,” Korakowski said. “His eyes were bulging out of my head.”
Another bystander, Korakowski, was later drawn by a Marine.
“The other Marine said he had just shot at range, so he had forgotten to remove the pistol from his hips,” Korakowski said. “That’s what it’s all about.”
At that point, the attacker dropped the knife. Kolakovsky held the suspects down until law enforcement officers arrived.
“I just became someone I hadn’t been to in a long time and stayed on him until the lieutenant ran off and jumped over him with a rifle in his face, and I helped him arrest him,” he said.

O’Brien walked inside to find Korakowski’s daughter.
“When I came back, it was an absolute nightmare,” O’Brien said. “There was blood everywhere.”
