Willamette Valley Oregon Temple groundbreaking
The saints of Eugene, Oregon expressed their excitement and gratitude for the announcement of the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple. “Each of this Willamette Valley area (congregation) has the beloved history and memories of the special people who helped build the kingdom,” one member said.
Even the children were excited – one 11-year-old saint said, “I look forward to seeing Willamette Valley Temple be built and someday enter.”
The host of the groundbreaking ceremony on October 29, 2022 was Elder Valeri V. Cordon, 70 people, the first counselor for the President of Western North America. In his dedicated prayer, Elder Cordon said, “I acknowledge the first saints who came to this valley to live in peace in humble circumstances. I am grateful for the faithful saints, sacrifice, devotion and obedience that live in this area.”
Elder Cordon said, “I pray that this community will become a beacon of hope and peace that will encourage this community to come to Christ, even at its construction stage.”
Willamette Valley Oregon Temple Timeline
A groundbreaking
The temple in Eugene, Oregon was announced on April 4, 2021 by President Russell M. Nelson. Exactly a year and a half later, the groundbreaking ceremony of the newly named Willamette Valley Oregon Temple was held on October 29, 2022. Elder Valeri V. Cordon presided the ceremony.
Architecture and design of Willamette Valley Oregon Temple
The Lord’s House in Eugene, Oregon is built on a 10.5 acre site. This structure will be located at the intersection of International Boulevard and Corporate Way in Springfield. This is the outskirts of Eugene in Willamette Valley, which has acquired the temple’s name.
According to the building plan, the single-storey structure will total approximately 30,000 square feet of area. The outer rendering shows the outside of a white layered wall with a large arch leading to the front door. A single tower in the middle is topped with four layers of spire.
