Childhood is a time of rapid physical growth and constant discovery, where children learn everything from gravity to language. Often, children only want to be like someone they respect literally, figuratively.
This progress continues throughout your teens. Still, intentional decisions are necessary to shape habits and their growth.
Then, one day, suddenly, the young people realize that they have arrived at the adult’s gateway. There, focusing on future preparation could potentially shift towards meeting momentary needs and pressures. It’s too easy to be satisfied with the current situation, to postpone potential growth and be convinced that it’s too slow or difficult to improve.
But there are many stories of people who experience powerful changes and transformations after a formative year. The truth is, no matter what our age or circumstances, it is never too late to improve. In fact, one of the most noble pursuits we can embrace is continuous personal improvement.
God wants us to achieve our full potential. As we turn to him with our weaknesses, he helps us to strengthen. We unlock the power of God as we humbly succumb to him and seek help for all our needs.
Religious leader President Ezra Taft Benson declared that “men and women who hand over life to God know that they can make far more lives than he can” (“Jesus Christ – Gifts and Expectations,” Speech, President Ezra Taft Benson, Devotion at Brigham Young University, December 10, 1974.
The Bible provides this evidence:
Simon, a former fisherman, became known as Peter, a male fisherman (see Matthew 4:18-19). This change required faith, and Peter quickly became a powerful witness to the resurrected Savior (see Acts 2:22-24, 32-33).
Saul, a Christian persecutor, became the act of apostle Paul (see Acts 9:1-30; 13:9). His transformation took courage, and the testimony of Jesus Christ blessed countless lives.
The Samaritan woman who met the well became a follower and bravely informed his fellow Samaritans of his name (see John 4:1-42).
These explanations from the Bible can inspire us to embark on the noble pursuit of transformation. Each step brings us closer to God and helps us become everything we know we can.
