Floyd Brown, former vice president of Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, says he was fired after CNN questioned previous official statements about homosexuality and same-sex marriage.

Brown, who only served as the center’s top fundraiser for a few weeks, announced in a post on X, previously known as Twitter. “I was fired by @RichardGrenell yesterday by John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts,” Brown wrote. “A month ago, I was hired to join the Kennedy Center as vice president.”

I was fired yesterday by @RichardGrenell from the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts. A month ago I was hired to join the Kennedy Center as Vice President. My shot came about 2 hours after @cnn sent me an email asking me to comment in the past…

The move reportedly came hours after CNN contacted the Kennedy Center about the statement Brown made on his website and video. Among them was a virus clip that Brown said:
“When I was on Capitol Hill, I worked on Republican staff. Most people have homosexual staff, and the reason they do so is because I usually don’t like me, I had two kids at home. I had a wife at home. I was responsible at home. Morgan had gay sex and then came back to work the next day.”

This is the speech that sparked everything. @floydbrown exclusively said he was fired for these 2023 remarks at a Christian event.

He explained the hypocrisy of the GOP. How parent-family policies are blocked by staff hostile to biblical marriage.

The CNN report also cited previous works from Brown, who called same-sex marriages “hoogers” and “godless,” accusing conservative leaders of promoting “a gay lifestyle within conservative tents.”

Brown said in a CNN investigation: “Comments that I have made in the past, rooted in my personal Christian views have not affected my work here at the Kennedy Center and do not hinder my interactions with colleagues who do incredible work for the Center’s patrons.”

He added, “As a Christian, I am called to work with others of various beliefs and worldviews.”

Brown said he was denied the opportunity to speak with Rick Grenell, the president of the Interim Kennedy Center for Special Missions in the Trump administration and the special envoy of the Special President. “I asked for an explanation of the fire and asked @RichardGrenell to speak. Both of these requests have been ignored,” Brown insisted.

“My only conclusion is that @RichardGrenell was threatened by @CNN’s story. So he preemptively fired me because of my Christian beliefs about marriage,” Brown posted.

A source familiar with the Kennedy Center told Hill that CNN’s report was accurate to state that “Grenell had not met Brown, had no knowledge of him, and was not involved in his employment.” A representative from the Kennedy Center declined to comment on the termination when contacted by the hill.

Brown also argued during his firing that “Floyd, you must remove or be fired your past statements about your beliefs and topics in traditional marriage.” He said, “Needless to say, I refused to drop out and was shown the door.”

CNN reported that Brown is no longer employed at the Kennedy Center, but did not confirm the reason for his departure.
