The three choirs provided music for the April 2025 general conference. It is the total choir of Temple Square’s Tabernacle Choir, the Youth Choir in Northern Utah and Brigham Young University. They sang songs from “hymns, “songs for children” and a new hymn project, “hymns – for homes and churches.”

The seven songs were from the new Hymnbook project.

The tabernacle choir sang “Welcome Home” (no. 1027), “It Works with My Soul” (no. 1003), and “Nearly Like a Quiet Prayer” (no. 1030).

“Welcome Home” was written by Andrea Ablett. Andrea Brett attended a Sunday morning session to hear a hymn performed by the tabernacle choir. “This is a lifelong thrill,” she said in a report on Churchofjesuschrist.org. “When I was a young girl, I actually dreamed of having hymns to hymns.”

The young choir sang “Come and hear the words that the Lord spoke” (no. 1031) and “Oh, the deep and deep love of Jesus” (no. 1015).

Jeff Anderson, who oversees the youth choir, said, “We’re going to bump into rehearsals, work, work, work, work, bring out the ‘Oh, deep, deep love of Jesus’ and hear, ‘I love this’.

The combined BYU choir sang “Praise the day he rises” (no. 1201) and “Was you there?” (no. 1206), this is the traditional African American spirit.

“We invite us to reflect on Christ’s death, burial and resurrection,” said Jorge Rojas, who sang in the BYU choir.

The new Hymnbook songs have been released by the group, with 37 songs released so far, with 15 in February.

Music from April 2025 and past General Conferences is available at churchofjesuschrist.org under Library, and can be obtained in the Gospel Library app by selecting “Music Library” and “Music from General Conference”, and “Music Library from General Conference” and “Music” from General Conference.
