Disney releases animated series with Christian characters after dropping a transgender storyline – Faith Wire

Disney’s Pixar’s new animated series features characters offering Christian prayer.

According to CBN’s Faithwire, the show “Win or Lose” was originally scheduled to include trans characters, but its plotline was eventually discarded. A Disney spokesman said what was surprising about the surprising aspect is an appeal to parents’ rights.

At the time, the representative said, “When it comes to animated content for younger audiences, many parents like to discuss certain subjects with their children on their terms and timelines.”

So a new foray into faith is certainly an unexpected twist.

As Christian Post reported, the first episode of the series, “The Coach’s Child,” depicts a character named “Lawley,” who bows his head in prayer before the game. She prays, “Dear Heavenly Father, give me strength. … I just want to catch the ball or hit. I promise good things.

She also said at another point in the episode, “Please help me get better. I’m going to train so hard.”

It is noteworthy that this episode of “Victory or Loss” shows that since 1996 Disney has portrayed a character explicitly engaged in Christian prayer. The last time he appeared on the Disney Project was “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” from the film song “God Help the Outcasts.”

The children’s show, premiering in February, follows the co-ed middle school softball team, Pickles, in the week leading up to the players’ championship game.

News of character change comes as Disney faces backlash from a live-action remake of “Snow White,” based on the 1812 story written by the Brothers Grimm.

Disney has made some consequential changes to the plot of the story. It was primarily the exclusion of the legendary song “One day My Prince Comes,” and was crucial to the score of the 1937 film.

Megachurch pastor Greg Laurie is one of the people who are critical of the new “Snow White,” and has denounced Disney for distanced himself from the original “moral f-talk” that influenced the film. According to CBN’s Faithwire, Laurie said the original story contains a series of biblical similarities “about good and evil.”

Dallas Jenkins, creator and director of “The Chosen,” also made a mild swipe in the live-action film starring Rachel Zegler.

In a Facebook post, Jenkins wrote: “I’m admitting that this weekend it won’t end on Snow White at the box office. But I’m not the same, I actually love the original sauce material.”

His comments are the first part of three national premieres of the fifth season of “The Chosen” in the theatrical release of “The Chosen: Last Supper.” Jenkins’ project made an impressive box office debut over the weekend, with new release competitors, “The Working Man,” an action flick starring Jason Statham and “Snow White” being the holdover of the previous week.
