The Muslims in Pakistan had twice accused of their Christian mother, raped her, unjustly transformed her into Islam, and created an Islamic marriage, sources said.

Suspect Muhammad Asif Sadiq is still threatening her husband and demanding that he return the “wife” and rescind the charges against him, said Asif Mai, the husband of the 37-year-old mother of three.

Masi of Patki Tesil in the Kasur district of Punjab said that when his wife was first accused on January 11, he was willing to go with Sadiq.

“However, when Sadiq claimed that he changed her faith and married him, I knew right away that it was a lie, as she was a devout Christian and could not abandon Christ even when her life was at stake.” “She was clearly deceived by Sadiq, who used a false conversion certificate and marriage to block her efforts to recover.”

His wife, named as a victim of rape, said Sadiq works as a security guard at the University of Veterinary Sciences (UVAS), where she works as a cleaner. She said Sadiq had persuaded her to sign up with him in a government plan for financial support.

“I trusted his offer of assistance without any clue as to his true intentions,” a member of the Full Gospel Assembly Church told Christian Daily International Morning Star News.

She said Sadiq took her to a place to fill out several forms, and injustically gave the document a thumbs-up impression.

“I am not illiterate and I didn’t know that he had obtained my summb seal to prepare a false religious conversion and marriage certificate,” she said. “Then he forced me to take me to his house. He also had his wife and two children. He locked me in a room where I had been hostage for eight days.”

Her husband and relatives have obtained a local council of elders known as the Panchayats, she said, to force Sadiq to free her into her family.

“He also assured the council that my family would nullify the fake marriage on the condition that the police would not take the matter away,” she said.

As her husband suffered from cancer and was no longer able to work as a rickshaw driver, she resumed work at UVAS to support her family. She wins 28,000 rupees (101 USD) a month.

“I did my best to avoid Sadiq from the university and changed the timing and obligations of my shift to prevent contact with him,” she said.

She said she had left her job when Sadiq and two unidentified accomplices arrived in the car and accused her at the muzzle.

“Sadik hugged me hostage at my relative’s house and repeatedly tortured at gunpoint for three days and raped,” she said.

During the first abduction, she added, Sadiq had not sexually assaulted her.

On February 17th, she found the opportunity to run away and return to her family.

“I didn’t have any money with me so they gave me some so that passersby could take the bus to Patokee,” she said. “I was hurt by the attacks, but hope to see my husband and children has once again given me the power to reach my family.”

Masi filed a police complaint against Sadiq the same night she returned. Police registered their first information report (FIR) against SADIQ on February 19, but the delay in action allowed him to get bail before his arrest.

“We don’t have the money to cover the police to cover the bell, so they didn’t make a sincere effort to arrest the accused immediately,” Masi said.

Christian lawyer Sumera Shafique recorded his wife’s statement in court and facilitated her health check on March 4th.

“It was her support that the incident picked up the pace, otherwise the police would not have worked with us,” Masi told Christian Daily International Morning Star News.

Shafiq confirmed that the suspect’s interim bail was denied and that he was arrested following the outcome of a medical report, and that Masi’s wife had been sexually assaulted.

“The police have registered an FIR under Section 496-A, which is related to seducing or detaining women to have illegal sex and will be punished with a maximum of seven years in prison,” Shafik said. “However, after her statement detailing how she was accused, forced to convert and exposed to rape, we now ask for the addition of all relevant sections, including rape in FIR against Sadiq.”

Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code provides for uniform punishment for rape. You will be subject to a minimum of 10 years of death or a maximum term of 25 years in prison, and a fine.

Pakistan ranked 8th on the Open Doors 2025 World Watchlist.
