Thousands of South America know the name of the Latter-day Saint Church of Jesus Christ for compassion and charitable contributions. Whether they received a health kit while they were sick, wearing new reading glasses at the time they needed, or donated to a local hospital, they recognized the impact of church contributions. For the past two months, the church and its members have continued to contribute to improving the health of the people in our community.

Baranquira, Colombia
Throughout the San Martin Clinic and hospital del Norte in Baranquila, Colombia, young children smiled when they received cleaning kits and gifts from volunteers at Latter-day Saints Church at Jesus Christ during the Light the World Initiative in December 2024. .
The Church’s Columbia newsroom last month reported on the extensive service activities of the hospital’s intensive care units, oncology and pediatrics departments.
In total, volunteers distributed 70 cleaning kits to young cancer patients. This included diapers that matched the children’s age, wet wipes, creams, shampoos, colours and colour books.
Additionally, 70 blankets were donated to the entire project.
Maria Jose of the Golden Hour Foundation said: “I am very grateful for their kindness to these kids. I am filling me with the desire to know that there are people who have such a good heart.”
During the activities, Latter-day Saint volunteers shared world campaign videos and sang Christmas carols for the children. Surprisingly, each child was able to identify Jesus Christ on the video, and the volunteers touched on it.
Many also noticed the huge smiles of gratitude emanating from their children and expressed their gratitude for their service.
Frey Bentos, Uruguay
The Church of Jesus Christ, in partnership with Lions International, a dedicated organization serving those in need in small communities around the world, will donate more than 600 eyeglass frames to Uruguay’s contested people. , reported on the Uruguay newsroom.
Most of the frames were given to children and adolescents, and the youngest were given priority.
This is not the first time that a person in need has received a glass in this community.
The awarding project began in 2022 and continues steadily every year. This year, the project also included previous delivery of orthopedic materials, including 10 wheelchairs for adults, 6 wheelchairs for children, and pedestrians.
Local church leaders attended the January handover ceremony for all donations.
During the event, Lions International president Fernando Gutierrez expressed his gratitude for the support he received, highlighting how the collaboration can help Lions International fulfill its mission of serving those who need it most. .
Taffi Viejo in Argentina
CT scanners and endoscopes: Two seemingly small donations that dramatically affected patients at Lomas de Tafis Hospital in the town of Tafiejo, Argentina.
The church has donated a CT scanner and endoscope (the former X-ray machine used for detailed photographs of the body and the latter, which allow doctors to properly see and treat organs in the body – Argentina of the church Newsroom.
