For some, Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate romance, quality family moments, or “Galentine” with your girlfriend. But for others it can feel like another reminder of loneliness. I want to remind you of one truth that no matter which category finds itself, we can all stand it. God is the source of true love.

God: The origin of true love

God is love (1 John 4:8). Because love cannot exist in isolation, he created us from and for love. Like parents preparing their homes for their newborn homes, God created this world, including mountains, trees, rivers, suns, animals, etc., in preparation for our arrival (Genesis 1-2). . It’s a beautiful beginning, right?

But humanity, the beloved creation of God, did not reciprocate God’s love. From the beginning, Adam and Eve chose to rebellion, allowing the arrogant sin to take root. Humanity falls (Genesis 3). This broken pattern continues throughout history.

But because God is love, he could not force us to love him. Love must be a choice, not an obligation. But in his mercy he could not bear to see us corrupt. That is why “He gives His only son, and whoever believes in him will not perish, but will have eternal life” (John 3:16). Jesus’ life, death and resurrection reveal the depth and size of God’s love.

All he wanted was to meet us again.

God: A model of true love

We are designed to reflect and seek God’s love, as we are created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). This means that without him we cannot truly feel the whole thing.

The Bible says in 1 John 4:8, “Those who do not love love don’t know God, and God is love.” All beautiful aspects of love – perseverance, satisfaction, respect, humility, selflessness, forgiveness, righteousness, protection, hope, trust, perseverance (1 Corinthians 13:4-7) flow directly from him.

He is the ultimate model of any kind of love that we intend to share – whether it’s family, platonic, or romantic. As our father, he raises and guides us. As our close friends, Jesus walks by our side. And as our flower bride room, he loves us with unwavering dedication.

1 John 4:19 says, “We love because he loved us first.” It’s like an artist’s masterpiece. Other artists may try to replicate it, it may come close, but it will not be the same as the original artist’s. Without God, there is no real love.

How to respond to God’s love

So how do we love him? Simply by accepting His grace found in the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. 2 John 1:6 reminds us. “This is love. We walk in obedience to his commands. His command is that you fall in love, as you have heard from the beginning.”

But what does this love actually look like? Jesus himself gives us the answer. “Love all your God, your heart, your soul, your heart, and with all your heart, and with all your power. There is no greater commandment than these” (Mark 12:30- 31).

True love is not just an emotion – it is about loving God with all your heart and spreading that love to others.

Poems living on this Valentine’s Day

This Valentine’s Day, I recommend you make time for a “date” with God. Have a deep conversation with him through prayer, meditate on his words, and his love fills your heart.

This day reminds you that you are deeply known and unconditionally loved by the person who created love itself.

Here is a beautiful Bible that reminds us of God’s love.

“This is how God showed His love among us. He sent the world his only son, whom we may live through him.” – 1 John 4:9.

“This is love. It is not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent our son as a ton sacrifice for our sins.” – 1 John 4: 10.

“But God shows his own love for us in this: We were still sinners, but Christ died for us” – Romans 5:8.

“I am convinced that death, life, angels, demons, present, future, strength, depth, and other things in all creation cannot separate us from God’s love. For it is in our Lord Jesus” – Romans 8:38-39.

“There is no better person in Greater Love, and you give up your life for your friends.” – John 15:13.
