President Russell M. Nelson announced the date of the open house for the reopening of Salt Lake Temple on Friday, February 14th.

The temple will be open to the public from April to October 2027, he said in a social media post.

“The current comprehensive renovation to strengthen this sacred Lord’s house for future generations is now approaching completion,” he writes.

President Nelson wrote that additional details will be released as the opening house date approaches. He then encouraged individuals to make time to serve in the temple closest to them in preparation for the reopening of Salt Lake Temple.

“I encourage you to cherish your time and service at the temple closest to you, in preparation for the reopening of Salt Lake Temple in 2027, just as the Lord’s House is scattered across the globe,” he wrote Ta.

President Nelson also shared an invitation to those who are not members of the Latter-day Saint Church of Jesus Christ.

“We warmly invite friends to learn about God’s plan for his children and please the love of Jesus Christ.”

When he announced the temple renovation in 2019, President Nelson stressed and emphasized that the renovation “emphasised and emphasized the life, mission and mission of Jesus Christ in his desire to bless all nations, tribes, tongues and people. I will.” His invitations for friends from around the world to come to the open house allow them to see how the temple can help them concentrate their lives more fully on the savior.

News of the Open House will mark 172, the groundbreaking day after the temple on February 14th, 1853. President Brigham Young said it was one of the most sole, interesting, fun and glorious opportunities ever. Men’s children.”

On April 19, 2019, President Nelson initially detailed plans for the temple renovation as a project to “strengthen, refresh and glorify the temple.”

He announced at the April 2019 General Conference, just 12 days ago, the church’s plans to renovate and preserve four pioneering temples in Salt Lake City, St. George, Logan and Manti. I did. The temples of St. George and Manti are rededicated following their respective restorations. No plans for renovations to Logan’s Lord’s house have been announced.

Six years after the announcement of the Salt Lake Temple renovation project, Temple Square has become a nest of both domestic and international activities.

In May 2024, Brentroberts, managing director of the Church’s Special Projects Division, and Andy Kirby, director of the Historical Projects Division, have said they and others have had a renovation process on the Church News Podcast. We talked about our faith-building experience. The first five years of renovation work.

Four months later, in June 2024, the church released images of the interior of the temple and released answers to several questions asked about the project.

The latest update to the church prior to today’s Open House announcement came in January 2025 when vertical coring was completed and a new statue was installed in Temple Square.

President Nelson’s announcement of Salt Lake Temple Open House

“On February 14th, 1853, a groundbreaking ceremony in Salt Lake City began a 40-year journey of faith and sacrifice, leading to the dedication of Salt Lake Temple in 1893.

“The current comprehensive renovation to strengthen this sacred home for future generations is now nearing completion.

“Today, exactly 172 years after the groundbreaking ceremony, I am pleased to announce that the temple will resume for tours at public open houses from April to October 2027.

“We warmly invite friends to learn about God’s plan for his children and are delighted to the love of Jesus Christ. More details about this event are as part of the April 2027 approach. It will be shared.

“I encourage you to cherish your time and service at the temples closest to you, in preparation for the reopening of Salt Lake Temple in 2027, just as the Lord’s House is currently scattered across the globe.”
