Daily Prayer for Being a Missionary
Written by Kenisha Sanders Liddy
Bible reading:
Many Samaritans in the village believed in Jesus because the woman said, “Jesus has told me everything I’ve ever done!” (John 4:39 New Translation)

As believers, we are called to do the work that Jesus began long ago: to share the good news of the gospel with those who do not know him. That’s what Jesus did when He lived on earth, and He left an example for His followers to follow. Many people think of people going to Africa, China, or other parts of the world, but being a missionary is so much more than that. We should not ignore the local mission of serving the people who live in our communities and those we interact with every day.
I don’t know about you, but the signs of the times are clear. We are now closer to the Second Coming of Christ than when we first believed. We are not called to just sit in a church building and wait for Jesus to return. Believers should participate in the winning of souls, reaching what was lost even at the cost. It’s great that we support the men and women in the field financially and through prayer, but you’re also a missionary. When we share the gospel of Jesus Christ with others, we become missionaries ourselves.
Did you know that the most powerful message you can share is your testimony?A simple booklet about the plan of salvation and sharing John 3:16 can help you effectively share the gospel with unbelievers. Telling someone how God saved you by sharing your testimony may be all you need to reach the people God is already working with. Remember, some of us are the ones who sow, water, and reap the harvest. Each part is equally important in winning souls into the kingdom of God.
When I think of local ministry, I think of a story in the Bible. Jesus went to Samaria specifically to meet a woman who was ripe for the picking. After tasting the living water, she went to her area and brought everyone out to meet Jesus. Not only did she recognize the need for a Savior, she shared Jesus with the entire village and became a passionate soul winner. “Come and see the man who told me all that I have ever done. Is he not the Christ?”
There was no more shame or guilt in her life. Jesus was able to meet her alone because she went to the well at a time when no one else was going to avoid the other women and their gossip. But once she met Jesus, she was never the same again. God came into her life to fill her soul and she was able to testify of Him and share Him with others. This is how we should be. We should be missionaries every day to people, family, coworkers, and friends who need to encounter God and begin a relationship with Him.
Let’s pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for saving a horrible person like me. Help me to see others through your lens as sinners in need of a Savior. You said the fields are ripe and ready for harvest, so I pray that you would stand up for the workers. Bless me so that I can bless others through my life, finances, and testimony. Dear Lord, grant me passion for souls. May we boldly share the good news with those who need hope.
I pray every day that I can become a missionary. Give me the words you have in my heart and fill me with your Holy Spirit. Give me the wisdom to speak when You want me to speak and be quiet when I need to be quiet. Heavenly Father, thank you for calling other missionary believers to share the gospel with me and give me hope and a future in You. I pray that my light shines where I am and that I may be salt to my community. Help me to put You first in everything I do and to share Your good news with this dying world.
In the name of Jesus, amen.

Today I sat down with my son and talked about his testimony. We talk about how p*rn manifests itself today (not just “hardcore” but what finds you through social media) and how it impacts relationships, faith, and the way you see people. If you are struggling, you are not alone and you are not helpless. I hope this episode gives you clarity, courage, and next steps.
