Something dark is wiping away our city. No, it’s not just crime, political and economic instability. It’s deeper than that. It’s mental. And it’s real.
That mental war appeared very literally this week in the Howville area of Indianapolis. The Baptist Church of Friendship Missionaries was targeted by vandals who sprayed obscene, demonic messages across the church building and its buses. Let’s be clear. This wasn’t just a random act of teenage rebellion or vandalism along the way. This was the evil on display.
Messages such as “The Devil Rules,” “Die, Die, Die,” and profanity phrases were scribbled across walls and church buses. It was a direct attack on God’s affairs.

“When you go to church, it’s on a different level,” Pastor Ronald Covington told FOX59. And he’s definitely right. “It’s on the level of disrespect. It disgraces God and his home.” In an age where pastors are already growing thinly in dealing with crime, broken families and mental fatigue, these attacks are not merely uncomfortable, but intentional.
Covington called it “an evil act.” That’s what we see. Not only in Indianapolis, but throughout the country. The enemy is not sitting quietly as the godless policies of past regimes are rewind and justice leaders are trying to restore law and order. The darkness is raging. And it targets the very foundations of truth, morality, and faith.
And this is not an isolated incident. Churches, ministries, Christian schools and families across the country face increased hostility. why? Because Satan knows that his time is short. As believers fight to regain the ground that has been lost for decades, lies deceived by lies rise to the opposite in order to restore the Bible values of our government, schools and communities. And as we saw in Haughville, they’re not hiding it anymore. They tag the devil’s names in broad sunlight.
But here’s the good news: the church is in a solid position.
Rev. Covington and his congregation are not fed up with fear. They connect their arms with other pastors, organize community meetings, and most importantly, they pray. “We’re a lot of people here washing the buildings and doing all this. It’s a member of the community, so we’re saying a lot about our community,” he said.

And that’s exactly what we need more. As our enemies become furious, we must stand up. When darkness screams, the light must shine brightly.
Don’t overlook what’s going on here. These are more than just cultural changes. These are mental battles. We are at war. They oppose power and principalities, not flesh or blood. And our weapons are not the body. They are spiritual. Prayer, faith, righteousness, truth.
Pastor Covington provided his city with simple but powerful words of wisdom. And to all of us, “If we see something… and prayer, we can come together and find a solution not only for our church but for the entire community. That’s what we hope.”
He’s right again. Our hopes are not found in government or police reports, but both have a role. Our ultimate hope lies in Christ. And our duty as a church is to speak up, stand firm, not retreat.
Spiritual war is real. But so does Jesus’ victory.
