Resurrection Sunday, also known as Easter, is a wonderful day to reflect on the Lord. Resurrection Sunday is the anniversary of the Lord’s resurrection from the grave. It symbolizes the defeat of Jesus’ death. As followers of Christ, we should celebrate this day with a heart of praise and worship. It is because of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection that salvation and deliverance have been given to us.
Here are eight prayers to help you stand in awe of the beauty of Resurrection Sunday.
1. Prayer to praise the power of the Lord
“All the people were astonished and said to one another, “What a word!” With authority and power, command the unclean spirits to come forth! ” (Luke 4:36).
Dear Jesus, your power is undeniable. You defeated death when you rose from the grave. I praise you for your strength, strength, and love. Jesus, it is because of You that I am strong today. There’s no need to fear death.
Help me to think of you this Easter Sunday. Turn your mind away from distractions. I don’t want to be separated from you. Lord, I celebrate You today and every day. There’s no one like you. Amen.
2. Prayer to thank God for forgiveness
“In him we have redemption through his blood, the remission of sins according to the riches of his grace” (Ephesians 1:7).
Dear Jesus, we praise you for granting us forgiveness through your name. When You died on the cross for my sins, You paid the full debt of my sins. This is a great blessing and gift. Thank you for bringing Father’s forgiveness into my life. When he looks at me, he looks at you.
I will never take this for granted. Because of Father’s forgiveness, I can leave behind my regrets and start over. There’s no reason to live in the past. Resurrection Sunday reminds us of new beginnings, hope, and forgiveness. May the beauty of the Lord shine forever! Amen.
3. Prayer to worship the Lord
“A week later, the disciples came to the house again, and Thomas was with them. The door was locked, but Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be to you.'” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here.” Look at my hand. Reach out and insert your hand into my side. Stop doubting and believe. ” Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” Then Jesus said to him, “You have seen me, and you have believed.” Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed” (John 20:26-29).
Dear Jesus, I praise You! You are my wonderful Lord and Savior. Like Thomas, I worship you with a pure and devoted heart. You are my Lord and my God. You are the Savior of my soul and the healer of my wounds. Your love and power have no limits.
I have never met him, but I believe him. Jesus, I celebrate you today. Lead my heart to worship You every day of the year. All praise, glory and honor are yours. You have overcome death and doubt. Amen.
4. Prayer in praise of salvation
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who in his great mercy has blessed us with a living hope and a companion that will never perish, rot, or fade, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. He has given us new birth into an inheritance, which is kept in heaven for you who are kept by the power of God through faith until the coming of salvation, which will be revealed at the end of time.” (1 Peter 1:3-5)
Dear Jesus, salvation is impossible without you. You have poured out your blessings on us. All we have to do is put our faith in you. Thank you for the wonderful gift of salvation. Lord, I believe in you today. I believe that you died for my sins, were buried, and rose again.
You are God in the flesh and you have given me new life in your name. Because of you, I have a wonderful inheritance in heaven. This is not an inheritance of money or wealth, but rather an inheritance of grace, mercy and love. Lord, thank you for allowing me to die the death I deserved. Amen.
5. Prayer to embrace the beauty of creation
“By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth the host of the starry sky” (Psalm 33:6).
Dear God, You created all things. By your word all creation came into being. Resurrection Sunday is the perfect time to remember the beauty of creation: the new blooming of spring and the return of life. The Lord defeated death and reigned victorious.
May the bright flowers of spring lead my heart to you, God. Your beauty is all around me. It proves your grace, peace and creativity. Nature is so beautiful in the world we live in now. Think about what heaven will be like. God, how wonderful it would be to see your masterpiece in heaven. I praise you, amen.
6. Prayer to find peace in Jesus
“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me, even though he dies, he will live; and he who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?'” (John 11:25-26).
Dear Jesus, we need peace on this Resurrection Sunday. While everyone else enjoys standing in awe of Your completed work on the cross, I am overwhelmed with fear. There are so many things to worry about, but I want to step away from this inner dialogue. In You I find peace, because You are the resurrection and the life.
Eternal life is possible only because of you. I will live with you forever. By doing so, I will feel less serious about my current problems. Difficult times will come and go in this life, but I will always have you. And someday I’ll be with you in heaven. Lord, thank you for your peace. Amen.
7. Prayer to look back at the cross
“For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and that God will bring with him those who are asleep in him” (1 Thessalonians 4:14).
Dear Jesus, on this Resurrection Day, I choose to think about the Cross. Lord, how powerful and compassionate You are! You took on the sins of the world to save the world. May my voice always praise You, Jesus. Nothing is too difficult for you.
I believe that just as you died and rose again, so will all those who believe in you. Not a day goes by that I am not reminded of this truth. The Day of Resurrection brings hope to my soul. I will celebrate you forever. Lord, it is a great honor to know you. Amen.
8. Prayer to keep our eyes on Jesus
“Therefore we were buried with Christ through baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might live to newness of life” (Romans 6:4).
Dear Jesus, Resurrection Day is all about new life and a new start. Through you, I have been brought back to life. And this life is different from my previous life. This life is for you. From today I turn to you and dedicate my life to you.
There is no reason not to worship, praise and love you with all my heart. It is because of you that I am here today, Jesus. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins and giving me new life through your name. All glory, honor and praise are yours forever. Amen.
