Danny Arrowon, a former Israeli ambassador to the United States, shares a story about how the Jewish tradition holds that only defective individuals create great leaders. According to the rabbi, it is essential that the leader is flawed.

“If someone is self-righteous and is sure of their good, they don’t feel the need to redeem the past with good deeds. However, if they experience real failures or setbacks, they are more likely to approach leadership redemption,” explains Arayaon.

This perspective may shed light on why Donald Trump is considered a leader who is committed to his promises. Despite, or perhaps because of, his past mistakes and failures, he aims to do what he thinks is right for America. Since his election in 2016, his actions in defending life, Christian rights and Israel have been prominent.

I have known Arayon as an ambassador since his time and respect his opinion. He appreciates Trump’s support for Israel and resonates with evangelicals who support Israel because of their religious beliefs.

In America, especially within the church, we are often rooted in our views, or influenced by the media, making it difficult to see an Arayaon-like perspective on flawed leaders. But after hearing his point of view, I realized its validity.

The Bible shows that God has always used imperfect people. This means he can use you with me! But I didn’t think that man needed to have the flaws for God to use them.

Evangelicals are often criticized for supporting someone from Trump’s secular, hedonistic background. It’s as if we should apologise for supporting a man who is trying to make America great again. why? Because of his flaws, he is being, conflicted, multiple marriages, bankruptcy, use of rough language.

This may be why Trump is considered a powerful leader. As we approach future elections, this issue needs to be addressed. It’s ironic and hypocritical that the left who once praised Trump criticises his lifestyle while running as a Republican. They even use legal action to attack him, suggesting that they should not vote for a convicted felon.

As Christians, we must understand that God has always used flawed leaders. We must think about the Bible and know how to protect Trump. He must even have family and friends the reason why he should vote for him in 2024.
