This week’s “Come, Follow Me” study guide covers Doctrine and Contracts 106-108.

Below are some quotes from past and present leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints about these sections of the Doctrine and Covenant.

Doctrine and Contract 106

“The Second Coming of Christ will be a surprise to many (see 2 Peter 3:10, Doctrine and Covenant 106:4), but the true disciples of Jesus Christ will not be surprised.

– Topics and Questions, “The Second Coming of Jesus Christ” Evangelistic Research Guide, churchofjesuschrist.org

“We are instructed to be children of light (see Doctrine and Covenant 106:5). We are heirs of eternal life. Spirits give light to all men and women who come to the world.”

– The late President James E. Faust, and the quorum member of the 12 Apostles at the General Conference in April 1987, “Are I happy?”

“To fulfill this challenge of sending more workers to the harvest of souls, the Latter-day Saints’ Church of Jesus Christ calls for an increase in missionaries in all worlds to preach the eternal gospel of Christ to all nations, their tribes, tongues and people.

“The Lord warned his people: “And again, I say to you, that the coming of the Lord will be drawn near, and at night, as a thief will overtake the world” (D&C 106:4). ”

– The late Delbert L. Stapley, then General Conference in October 1975, a member of the 12 Councils, “Making People to Prepare for the Lord.”

“I testify that “after the order of the Son of God” (D&C 107:3) – the Melchizedek Priesthood – the keys, authority and power were restored to the earth in these later periods.

– Elder Shane M. Bowen, then General Affairs, 70 years old, General Assembly in April 2024, “Miracles, Angels, Priesthood”

“When I was maintained as a new region of the 70, I opened the Bible to learn my duties and read Doctrine and Covenant 107:25. As you can imagine, my eyes were drawn to the term “special witness.” I have made it clear that I am responsible for enduring my witnesses no matter where I am in the world.

– Elder Brent H. Neilson, 70 years old at the time, General Meeting in April 2024, “Records of what I saw and heard”

“Sometimes, when we think we’re ‘getting everything right,’ when we think we don’t still receive the blessings we want, we sometimes don’t receive the blessings we want. He and his people walked with God for 365 years before they were translated.

– Elder Jeremy R. Jaggie, Directorate, 70, October 2020 General Meeting, “Let’s make patience her perfect job and count it all the joys!”

“We are used to maintaining church leadership through God’s pattern of raising our arms to the square to make us stand out and showing acceptance and support. We did this a few minutes ago. But true maintenance is far beyond this physical token. We will become fully and truly sustained our living prophets as we develop a pattern of dressing up in his words, having faith acting on them, and praying for the Lord’s continued blessing.”

– In October 2018, the late Bishop Dean M. Davis, the first counselor of the bishop, said, “Come and hear the voice of the prophet.”

“Each of your brothers and sisters to use are blessings obtained through the power of the Holy Melchizedek Priesthood. These blessings can change the circumstances of your life. Follow His will and maintain those blessings.”

– President Russell M. Nelson, a member of the quorum of the 12 Apostles, at the General Conference in April 2011, “Face the Future with Faith”

“If you own the most advanced and expensive computer in the world, would you simply use it as a desk decoration? The computer may look impressive. It may be of any kind. But it is only when you study the owner’s manual and use the software to turn on the power to make the most of its possibilities.

“The Holy Priesthood of God also has the owner’s manual. Let’s focus on reading the Bible and Handbook with a more purposeful and focus. Let’s reread the doctrines and covenants of Sections 20, 84, 107, and 121. Church.”

– Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf, second counselor of the first presidency, April 2011 General Meeting, “Your Possibilities, Your Privilege”

“One place in the Bible that the Lord gives us a pattern for us is in the 107th part of the Doctrine and Covenant.

“So, now let everyone learn their duties and act in the office he has been appointed and act with all his diligence.

“The ‘slothlothful man is not a suitable number to stand, he has learned his duties and shows that he is not approved, and that he is not suitable to stand.

“We learn our duties from the Lord, and then we act with all our diligence, and never lazy or hair removal.”

– President Henry B. Eyring, then the first counselor of the first presidency, April 2010 General Meeting “ACT in All Suligence”

“A revelation of the priesthood given through the Prophet Joseph Smith, recorded as part 107 of the Doctrine and Covenant, “learning” as “does” to “learn”, now that all men learn their duties, act in the office he has been appointed, and are appointed with all diligence 107:99).

“Each priesthood holder attending this session tonight has a call to serve him to do his best in the work assigned to him, as each will bring eternal consequences.”

– The late President Thomas S. Monson, then president of the Church, October 2008 General Conference, “Learn, do, do, do.”

“I have solid testimony of the power of the priesthood in the lives of all church members. In the doctrine and covenant, it is said that the Melchizedek priesthood holds “the key to all spiritual blessings of the Church” (107:18). The power and grace of God. ”

– The late sister Elaine L. Jack, then General President of the Relief Society, October 1996 General Conference, “Glorious Participants”

“My beloved brothers and sisters, we are those who can better understand the circumstances of those who decide that God will decide to win in life, which is part of the covenant we make with our Heavenly Father.

– In a June 2022 article from Liahona, Elder Zary K. Motonbo, Directorate, 70, “Establishing Zion among us.”

“Building and strengthening one another is another important way to be involved in building the kingdom. That’s something you can do very well. What does God’s Word say about strengthening one another?

“I will strengthen your brother in every conversation, in every prayer, in every exhortation, and in every deed” (D&C 108:7).

“Open your hearts and fill you with the desire that the Holy Spirit will bless each other, your family, your roommates and your friends. Do something every day that will bring joy to them.

– The late sister Patricia P. Pinegar, then major general president, Brigham Young University Fireside speech in March 1999, “Building the Kingdom of God”

“I am also very grateful for the blessings of my daily relationship with the general authorities of the Church. I pledge to these devoted men my loyalty, my love, and my boring efforts to build the Kingdom of God (D&C 108:7).”

– Elder Merlin K. Jensen, Directorate 70 at the time, General Assembly, October 1989, “Single Eye of God’s Glory”

“Regardless of the person’s condition, cynicians, pessimists, or negative people have the least progress, happiness and prosperity.

“On the other hand, the Lord’s way is that the positive, elevated, enlightened, and energized, optimists of faith are individuals both inside and outside the most progressive, happy and prosperous church. The Lord said:

“Therefore I will strengthen your brother in every conversation you have, in every prayer you have, in every exhortation, and in every act of you have” (D&C 108:7). ”

– The late Elder Ted E. Brewton, then General Bureau 70, April 1983 General Meeting, “Blasphemy and Oath”

“And what are your reactions when you met Catholics, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Jehovah’s Witnesses? …I learned a lot from thinking about these things. What’s your reaction to meeting an atheist brother or sister?

“Therefore, in every conversation you have, in every prayer you have, in every exhortation, and in every deed you have, I will strengthen your brother.”

“It always surprises me how the Bible and the Prophet use the word ‘everything’. It doesn’t leave much space for exceptions. ”

– The late Anne N. Madsen, then the Old Testament instructor at Brigham Young University, BYU prayer July 1982, “Not…” All men grant the same privilege.”
