As the Christmas season begins, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released a new song on its youth-oriented YouTube channel Strive to Be to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ.
“Immanuel” rejoices at the birth of the Savior and the fulfillment of prophecies about His coming.
Lyrics and music by Nik Day, artist JRay Kuhn. This song, along with other songs, is included in “Look Unto Christ: 2025 Youth Album.”
Throughout the music video, children, youth, and families spend time together in Christ-centered Christmas traditions, acting out the Nativity story, making star decorations, baking and cooking, eating with church and community members, and viewing Nativity scenes, interspersed with lyrics sung by Kuhn, including the lyrics, “Immanuel! God is with us! Immanuel! He’s here!”
Singing this song gave Mr. Kuhn great peace and reminded him of the divinity and love of Jesus Christ.
“I am grateful that this Christmas season allows us to reflect on who Jesus Christ is and the miracles of his birth and ministry,” Kuhn said.
Kuhn stated that the entire process of recording this song was evidence of God’s divine timing in his life.
“This song found me and sustained me through the most chaotic year of my life. It’s been almost a year since I was invited to help bring this song to life, and it has become a staple of my witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”
During many changes in Kuhn’s life, in moments of loneliness and solitude, he remembered those words: “He is here.”
Jesus Christ has come to mean more to him as a teacher, comforter and savior, he said.
“This Christmas season, I challenge you to ask yourself, ‘Who is Jesus Christ to me?'” Kuhn said. “Pick out a pen and paper. I promise you that as you prayerfully seek the answer to this question, you will feel the presence of the Lord beside you, and you will deepen your personal and intimate relationship with the Savior.”
“Emmanuel” is available to stream on music platforms including YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music.
This sheet music is also available in church music libraries and is in high demand. Strive to Be’s Instagram post about the new song received over 2,000 comments and messages asking for a link.
This song is featured along with other songs in a special Christmas playlist on the Strive to Be YouTube channel to enjoy this time of year.
