Trump pulls plug: NPR and PBS taxpayer dollars no longer

President Donald Trump follows the movements conservatives have been demanding for decades. Taxpayers’ money flow is a castrator to NPR, the national public radio, and the public broadcasting service PBS. In a bold executive order issued Thursday, Trump instructed the company to “stop federal funds” for public broadcasting.

As reported by Daily Wire, the decision comes weeks after the White House released a report blowing up two public broadcasters. “For years, American taxpayers have been in Hook to subsidize national public radio and public broadcasting services that spread radical spread.

The executive order has not pulled a punch. It refers to a modern media environment that is sufficient to pull the plug. “Unlike 1967, when CPB was founded, the media landscape is today filled with rich, diverse and innovative news options,” the order reads. “Government funding of news media in this environment is not only outdated and unnecessary, but also corrupted by the emergence of journalistic independence.”

Trump further declared that “media outlets have a constitutional right to taxpayer subsidies,” and stressed that Americans deserve “fair, accurate, fair and nonpartisan news coverage” when taxes are drafting the bill.

The order also accuses the CPB of violating its own rules by subsidizing politically biased content.

“The perspectives promoted by NPR and PBS are not important,” he said. “The important thing is that neither entity presents a fair, accurate or impartial portrayal of current events to citizens paying taxes.”

Concerns about NPR’s objectivity have come from within its own barriers recently. In April, former NPR editor Uri Berliner blew whispered, admitting that “the open minded spirit within NPR no longer exists, but now, as expected, there is no audience that reflects America.” He specifically pointed out the outlet’s cozy relationship with Rep. Adam Schiff, which NPR interviewed 25 times during the Trump Russia investigation. “When Mueller’s report found no reliable evidence of conspiracy, NPR coverage was significantly sparse,” noted Berliner.

Berliner also highlighted that NPR ignored the Hunter Biden laptop scandal ahead of the 2020 election and criticised the change in missions. “Race and identity have become the most important thing in almost every aspect of the workplace,” he said. “There’s no diversity in perspective,” he warned. It is the most harmful defect in the network.

Katharine Maher, current CEO of NPR, added the controversy. In a 2021 TED talk, she declared, “Our respect for truth may have been a bit of a distraction that has prevented us from finding consensus and getting things done.”

For many Americans, this move by Trump sends a clear message. If the media wants to promote partisan stories, they shouldn’t do it with our money.
