Elder Ulises Soares said that in the Savior’s “I Am” declaration, “one of the most solemn and tender teachings of the Lord’s ministry” is John 15:1, 5.
Elder Soares of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said: “The Savior teaches us that we are a true, reliable, and essential source of spiritual nourishment for our souls.” “Through God, we receive strength beyond ourselves to not only overcome life’s challenges, but to grow and thrive.”
Elder Soares said maintaining a connection with the “True Vine” is not just desirable. It is essential for spiritual survival.
“We need to receive spiritual nourishment directly from the true vine, for the true vine is the source of all light and truth,” the apostle said. “Only then can the precious fruits of the Gospel grow in our souls, and only then can we find the true light, life, and hope that flows from the Lord.”
Elder Soares was one of several Church leaders who spoke about the Savior’s various titles during the April 2026 general conference.
redeemer and repairer
Elder Clark G. Gilbert of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said in Saturday morning session. “Today we especially bear witness to the name of our Savior and Restorer, focusing on Christ’s invitation for us all to come home.”
These titles of Christ are mentioned in Isaiah 58:12, which reads in part, “You will be called a repairer of breaches and a repairer of ways to dwell.”
Elder Gilbert gave examples of people who “found their way home” by re-establishing themselves in repair shops. For example, a person who is suffering from doubt or feeling out of place can know that they are loved and make their own choice to return home.
“I testify that Christ is our Savior,” Elder Gilbert said. “When we fall short, God repairs the breaches in our lives. The Savior loves us all and is gently calling you and me to come home.”
the originator and perfecter of faith

Elder Eduardo F. Ortega of the General Authority Seventy testified in Saturday afternoon’s session of Christ as “the author and perfecter of (our) faith” (Moroni 6:4).
He said the process of true discipleship always begins with a personal decision and is a daily accumulation of personal and spiritual events.
“We must choose the firm and safe path, even if it is sometimes the longest and most difficult path,” Elder Ortega said. “Jesus Christ and his restored gospel constitute a safe path that will lead us to the true summit.”
road

In Saturday afternoon’s session, Elder Brian J. Holmes said that Christ is “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6).
A General Authority Seventy explained, “In that simple proclamation, the Savior taught us that He is not only our Guide, but the Way. His way is the only way to eternal life.”
Elder Holmes also encouraged us to follow Christ through our covenants and by following the prophets. “As we unite with God through our covenants and follow His living prophets, we walk the only way home safely.”
Personal guide and master healer

Elder Edward B. Rowe of the General Authority Seventy said in Sunday morning’s session that Jesus Christ is “not only the perfect personal guide, but also the risen Savior and master healer.”
Although the Savior’s Atonement is infinite, “His invitation is personal. He invites you and me to receive Him as our personal guide.”
Elder Lowe said that no matter how broken, imperfect, or inadequate someone feels, as the Master Healer, Christ extends His mercy. “When we struggle or go astray, turn to God and let Him heal us, and may He heal you.”
“Today I am proud of our Savior.”

Elder Aaron T. Hall of the General Authority Seventy quoted the Book of Mormon prophet Nephi when he wrote:
“Today I praise our Savior,” Elder Hall added during Sunday afternoon’s session. It was one of the six titles of the Savior he praised.
“Contemplate the meaning of the Lord’s sacred name and allow Him to restore peace to your soul,” Elder Hall urged.
