According to Christian rights groups, a British Christian nurse who was punished for saying “Mr.” to a transgender prisoner was stopped without explaining vague allegations of potential “grudish misconduct.”
Jennifer Merule was summoned last week to meet the lead nurse at Epsom and the NHS Trust at St. Helier University Hospital in England. There, a Ugandan-born resident of Croydon told Meruru that there had been a “potential data breach” and a “potential data breach.”
“Pressing forward the basis for a suspension for nurses with unharmed records, the Chief Nurse refused to provide details of the allegations that a full investigation was pending,” Christian concerns said.
Hanging on a full salary and banned from the hospital premises, Meruru was told to collect her belongings and was escorted “with tears” from the hospital premises.
“I’m devastating that I was simply stopped due to a whistleblowing,” Mel said. “To this day, I have not even been told that I am wrong. As a dedicated Christian nurse, I have experienced relentless institutional abuse, harassment, bullying and racism.
The hospital boss called it a “potential risk” to say “Mr” to a transgender prisoner who was jailed for pretending to be a teenage girl on social media and inviting the boys to have sex. The prisoner levelled her racial slur, and the National Health Agency (NHS) lawyers reportedly say that her biblical beliefs about her gender are “not worthy of the respect of a democratic society.”
“I am a punished person despite being at risk,” Mel said. “I was made to feel like a criminal.”
Mel said the underlying anti-Christian message was revealed by health authorities during the investigation.
“The message I received through this investigation is clear. I tolerate extreme racism, deny biological reality, and deeply restrain Christian beliefs. “I trust Jesus to lead this. I have to stand up. I’m really worried that other NHS workers are quietly enduring similar injustice.”
Her conflict with her employer attracted the attention of Kemi Badennock, the leading Conservative Party leader, a major opposition to the British Parliament. Last night (April 6th) Badenok described Mel’s treatment as “completely crazy.”
“She has full support for me,” Badenok reportedly. “It’s time for the government to pull out their fingers, step in and make it clear that no one will be punished in the workplace to state the biological reality to pedophiles.”
Supported by the Christian Law Centre, Mel has launched an appeal against the Epsom and St. Helier NHS Foundation Trust regarding discrimination, harassment, sacrifice and violation of her human rights, based on Article 9 of the European Court of Human Rights (Life of Thought, Conscience, and Religion). A full employment court hearing is scheduled for February next year.
According to Christian concerns, Mel was taken from the man’s prison for a night shift on May 22.
At 10pm, Mel learns that the inmate wants to discharge himself from the hospital. He reportedly shouted and upset other patients in the ward. She told the doctor over the phone, “Mr. X (identified by Christian concerns) wants to be self-boreed,” but the prisoner who overhears her allegedly cried out, “Don’t call me Mr.! I’m a woman!”
Christian concerns reported that when she approached his room, the prisoner racially abused Merul. According to Christian concerns, Merule told him, “I can’t call you her or her because it’s against my faith and the values of Christianity.
The prisoner said, “Imagine if I called you a nigger. How about calling you a nigger?
Mel needed help from security as the inmate reportedly charged intimidatingly at her. He chases her out of the room and threatens to report her to the police because of “homophobia.”
Pressed by hospital management to issue a statement, she outlined her Christian belief that God created mankind and women. The boss told her she had to attend a meeting with HR and said if she refused to follow, she would be sent home until the investigation was completed.
The manager relocated her to another hospital unit. This is a move that, according to Christian concerns, amounts to demobilization. They also removed her name from the internal system, so she could no longer work outside of hours, affecting the family’s income.
Management gave a final written warning at a disciplinary hearing in October.
The health leader accused her of “not respecting the patient’s favorable identity,” saying that her actions and behavior “were out of respect for trust.”
Her case was referred to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) after investigating that nurses had violated the NMC Code of Conduct.
Merule said her actions were fully compliant with the Code throughout her career, including reported cases with transgender patients.
“I am in danger, but I am treated like a criminal,” she said in a previous statement of Christian concerns.
Andrea Williams, chief executive of the Christian Legal Centre, called the suspension “a blatant and illegal victimization.”
“The decision to talk about Jennifer’s treatment is a legally protected act under the Equality Act,” Williams said.
“The NHS is so entrenched in transgender ideology that it wants to side with a man brought from prison who has openly cried out racist abuse against Christian nurses. We’ve seen many shocking incidents in recent years, but what Jennifer Merule is enduring is taking this issue to a whole new, deeply disturbing level.”
Williams sought both an “immediate U-turn” and a “full apology” from health authorities. “Another investigation, not a pause,” she pointed out.
“Internal investigations are usually very long and there’s a movement to buy time to piece together NHS stories,” Williams added. “We are calling for the Health Secretary of Wes Street to intervene. He is already engaged in the case of a nurse in Darlington and expresses his fear in their treatment. The government’s actions are time to stop this injustice. We are not as far as necessary to ensure justice with Jennifer, but for all nurses facing discrimination under this harm.
