The story, which can only be described as a miracle, turns out that a two-year-old Arizona boy who went missing from his home is safe.
The toddler wandered away from Seligman’s home before 5pm on Monday, April 14th, prompting a massive overnight search by more than 40 rescue team members, agents and rangers.
Sixteen hours later, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Deputies received a call that changed everything.

“After a 16-hour search, the rancher, about seven miles away, reported that the young child was walking to his property,” the department said in a Facebook post. “When we arrived at the ranch, our deputies confirmed that this was in fact a missing juvenile.”
The rancher headed towards town said he found his dog, Buford, sitting near the entrance.
Buford, an Anatolia Pyrenean who was raised for protection, appeared to have led his child through seven miles of dangerous, rugged terrain. His owner suspects that Buford suspected that he found the boy in the meadow and brought him to the house.
“Because he is an Anatolia Pyrenean, he is a guardian dog, so he patrols within half a mile of the house all night, keeping the coyotes away,” the rancher explained. “I think he just found him somewhere under the tree in the horse pasture here and took him home. That’s what he does. He loves children so you can imagine he wouldn’t leave him when he finds him.”
Considering the area’s landscape and known wildlife, the rescue is incredible. During the search, rangers reported seeing two mountain lions in the area.
The rancher brings the boy inside and gives him food and water, and tries to piece together what happened.
“I said, ‘Did you walk all night?’ And he said no,” the rancher said. “He said, ‘I lying under a tree,’ and I said, ‘Well, did my dog find you?’ And he goes “Yes.” ”
It was a moment of deep relief.
“So I was excited that he was okay and my dog found him,” the rancher said. “I can’t believe a child made it that far. It’s seven miles. That’s if he walked in a straight line.”

The terrain includes “three big mountain ranges” and “big valleys,” the rancher said, adding “it’s insane for a two-year-old to do so.”
Social media praised Buford and called him everything from heroes to furry angels.
“I hope he gets a really big, huge bone,” one commenter said. Ranchmen were delivered – Bird was treated to a well-earned steak dinner, he told the Az Family.
Glory God to protect God and create animals with instincts. Buford didn’t just protect the boy. He became a container of hope, and perhaps even a furry answer to a hopeless prayer.
