Former Satanist Leanne Sweegeral’s journey from the occult to the Christian faith captivated the world in 2022 when his story first became word of mouth.
Since then, Swiegelaar has shared details of what he says as a fundamental encounter with Jesus. This is an exchange that led him from Satanism to Biblical beliefs.
He went incredibly from those who denied the existence of Jesus to those who were trying to help others who were seeped into the occult. And it all began with the love of a stranger.
A few years ago, a Christian woman heard Swaigerard talk about Jesus’ rejection on the radio and appeared in the Satanists of the time to embrace him.
“A few days later, I was supposed to be performing… a demonic ritual… to check in if the Antichrist was still born.” “At that time, because of my background, I was in the occult as someone who actively practiced the ritual even before I was caught up in Satanism, so they recommended that I be appointed to perform the ritual.”
As Swiegelaar was preparing for a strange ritual, he said something supernatural had happened.
“When I lit up the second candle, the whole room I was doing this suddenly lit up like there was a spotlight in the room,” he said. “My first thought was that I was actually being mischievous or someone else was watching me.”
However, when he turned around, Swiegelaar was unconscious about what he had observed.
“When I turned around… Jesus was standing there,” he said. “And again, I didn’t know this was yes. So I asked him, ‘Who are you?”
Swiegelaar said that Jesus had identified himself, but Swiegelaar rejected the concept and declared that he did not even believe that Christ existed. He knew at those moments that the illusion was “not a person,” but he was confused about standing before him, or who was standing.
“Remember that Satanism has a lot of involvement in evoking and working with the devil,” he said. “So the devil always appears in a certain way to occultists and those who practice.”
However, when Swiegelaar asked Jesus to prove who he was, something else happened that shook him off. He was soon hit by an incredible amount of love.
“When I told him, ‘You have to prove it,’ he killed a lot of love for me. And for the woman (who held me a few days ago), I recognized the love. “So I quickly realized this was real and I remember that I actually went to my knees because I couldn’t stand up.”
Swiegelaar said the experience lasted only a minute or two, but the effects continued deeply. He said, “The whole world has become quiet.”
“I was just sitting on the floor in that quietness and that sense of love,” he said.
Everything he thought he knew was suddenly wiped out. He found himself satisfied with the standards of the world, but suddenly it wasn’t enough.
“I didn’t notice that there was a Christ-sized hole in my heart,” he said.
Deeply influenced by the interaction, Sweegeral decided to embrace the Christian faith, beginning with a path of rejecting the Satanism he was leading.
“I had to go through a 10-month rescue period,” he said. “I was very involved in the occult and I was involved in Satanism, so I went through nine sessions over the 10-month rescue.”
Swiegelaar ultimately found spiritual freedom. Now he shares his faith and helps others retract Satanism and find true hope in the Christian faith.
