story
When Elder Roman was 17, he agreed to teach his friends how to swim. One morning, during practice, Elder Roman spotted his friend drowning at the deep edge of the pool. He jumped in and immediately swam to his friend to pull him up. Now, desperately trying, his friend put him in a chokehold and climbed him onto his back. Elder Romer, both now drowning, prayed for a miracle. He slowly and steadily felt a hand that drove him and his friends safely. He asks her what’s wrong and she replies, “I need you to be a good boy.” Elder Romer knew that he was not the cause of her pain, but he made a firm promise to sole that he would strive to be his best son and would be proud of her. This promise has had a major impact on him throughout his life.
From the footnote

The Greek cognate, πίστις, is translated as “trust” (see Robert Bieques, “The Dictionary of Greek Vocabulary” (2010), 1:1161-62). President Gordon B. Hinckley “prays to your heavenly Father in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and always, under all circumstances, demonstrates your loyalty and love by the essence of your life” (Loyalty, April 2003 General Assembly). “The Hebrew word for faith is אמאמאמאמאמאמאמאמאמאמאמאמאמאמאמאמאמאמאמאמאמאמאמאמאמאמאמאמאמ …(That) puts action on those who “support God.” Rather than knowing that God will act, we can support the word “emna.” Jeff A.
