Church President Russell M. Nelson passed away on Saturday, September 27th at the age of 101. The First Presidency was dissolved, and the counselors in the First Presidency were reinstated to their positions in the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. President Dallin H. Oaks presided over the October 2025 general conference as president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, President Oaks was announced as the 18th President of the Church, with President Henry B. Eyring installed as First Counselor and President D. Todd Christofferson as Second Counselor in the First Presidency.

Elder Gerald Caussé was announced as a new member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on Thursday, November 6, 2025. He was serving as presiding bishop at the time of his vocation.
The following week, on Friday, November 14, 2025, Bishop W. Christopher Waddell was announced as the church’s new presiding bishop. Bishop L. Todd Budge serves as the first counselor and Bishop Sean Douglas serves as the second counselor for the diocese.
Bishop Waddell and Bishop Budge have served as first and second advisors, respectively, to then-Bishop Korse since October 3, 2020. Bishop Waddell served as Second Counselor for the Presiding Diocese from 2015 to 2020. Bishop Douglas has been serving as a General Authority Seventy since April 2021.
President Jeffrey R. Holland, President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, passed away on Saturday, December 27, at the age of 85. President Dieter F. Uchtdorf was appointed acting president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on Thursday, January 8.
President Henry B. Eyring, First Counselor in the First Presidency, is the senior Apostle next to the President of the Church and President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. When the second Apostle in seniority is called as a counselor in the First Presidency, the third longest-serving Apostle becomes Acting President of the Twelve.
Elder Clark G. Gilbert, a former General Authority Seventy and member of the Church Educational System Committee, was announced as a new member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on Thursday, February 12.
