Sunday afternoon session of the 195th sixth anniversary general meeting of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was held at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City on October 5th.
President Darryn H. Oaks, the quorum president of the 12 Apostles, concluded the session by first explaining that President Russell M. Nelson, who passed away on September 27th at the age of 101, loved to announce the new temples at the end of each general conference session.
“However, it is appropriate to delay the announcement of new temples, as many temples are at the earliest stages of planning and construction. Therefore, with the approval of a quorum of the 12 apostles, we will not announce a new temple at this meeting.
The session was conducted by Elder Gary E. Stevenson, a quorum of the 12 Apostles. Brother Sean R. Dixon, the second counselor to the young male general president, and Relief Society President Kamille N. Johnson, prayers for the opening and closing.
The music was provided by the Temple Square Tabernacle Choir, directed by Mac Wilberg and Ryan Murphy, accompanied by organists Andrew Unsworth and Richard Elliott.
