Provo, Utah – Sister Amy A. Wright’s family loves to play puzzles together. Sister Wright, the first counselor for the major presidency, said the puzzle was a “subtle invitation” that invites everyone to come together, sit, talk, laugh, share and create.

However, it is almost impossible to understand the purpose of a single puzzle piece on its own, she said. You need the context provided by other pieces. So her family begins the puzzle by assembling the edges, gradually embracing the “basic aspects.” If you find a piece that doesn’t seem to fit, set it aside until you have additional perspectives.

He said the process of completing the puzzle could also apply to understanding the sacred, inspired prophetic advisers found in Family: Declaration to the World.

“This revelation document emphasizes the fundamental importance of marriage and children, most specifically, that marriage and children are the basis of the plan of salvation: God’s plan of happiness,” Sister Wright said.

She gave a puzzle analogy in her keynote speech at the Brigham Young University conference for the 30th anniversary of the declaration on Thursday, September 25th.

The two-day meeting, September 25th-26th, featured the theme of “Experience Jesus Christ through the Family Declaration,” and featured a variety of speakers, including Professor BYU and researchers at the Wheatley Institute.

4. The underlying truth

In her keynote speech, Sister Wright explored the “four basic truths” of the declaration.

Marriage between men and women is ordained by God. Family is central to the creator’s plan. All humans, men and women are created in the image of God. Gender is an essential feature of individual frontal bones, fatal, eternal identity and purpose.

On the first truth – “Men and woman’s marriage is ordained by God” – Sister Light said that Jesus Christ and his infinite tone sin will enable eternal family.

The Old Testament prophet Elijah held the sealing key before the birth of the Savior, and Sister Light continued, and Angel Elijah restored the same sealing key to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdely at Kirtland Temple on April 3, 1836.

About the Second Truth – “Family is the Heart of the Creator’s Plan” – Sister Light says that raising and teaching children is intended to be a “holy and sacred experience,” providing a deeper understanding of God.

“To truly love our family in the way James explains (in James 3:7), we must first fill the love that came from Jesus Christ,” Sister Wright said.

About the third truth – “Men and women, all humans are created in the image of God” – Sister Light said that the cycle of human life is possible only because men and women are “sacred and uniquely different and different.”

It’s not bad to be different, Sister Wright said. It’s simply different. And those differences can be power, purpose and immeasurable.

“The miracle of it is that if we choose, we can equally participate in the same blessings.

About the fourth truth – “Gender is an essential feature of individual assumptions, fatal, eternal identity and purpose” – Sister Wright cited Elder David A. Bednar, a quorum of the 12 Apostles.

Sister Wright said that Heavenly Father wanted people to need each other. “Men need women, and women need men physically, emotionally and mentally,” she said. “And prophetic advisors and secular research confirm that children desperately need both.”

A call to action

Ultimately, the “Family Declaration” ends with a call to action, Sister Wright said: An invitation to walk, love, serve, and forgive, as the Savior did. The path of disciple is not easy, but since God first walked that path, no one must walk it alone.

“When we choose our father and his only born son… we also choose to be part of an eternal family with the ability to increase eternally,” Sister Wright said. “We choose to hold precious titles for our husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, sons and daughters forever.

“All this is possible for Jesus Christ.
