On December 6, 2025, as part of its partnership in community outreach efforts, the Singapore Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints distributed 120 ration bags to individuals and families facing financial hardship.

The initiative is a joint effort between the People’s Association and local charity Rahmatan Lil Alamin Foundation and focuses on providing essential food and groceries to people in need.

Rahmatan Lil Alamin Foundation was established in 2005 for Singapore’s Muslim community with the aim of extending compassion and kindness to the poor, needy and victims of disasters, regardless of faith, race or creed. The church and foundation have been working together on relief projects for the past several years.

The bag distribution was held in conjunction with the West Coast Community Center’s Research Awards Ceremony. Each bag was handed out in person by Minister Desmond Lee, Minister for Education, Minister for Social Services and Integration, and church volunteers.

According to the church’s Singapore Newsroom, Minister Lee’s participation highlighted the importance of public-private and community-led collaboration in supporting vulnerable households.

“I think it’s a great event that brings together local organizers, churches and others to support great local efforts,” said Singapore Stake President Jean-Luc Boutel. “This shows that we are involved in the community for a good cause. As a church, we will continue to work in different communities in Singapore to show that we can help in different areas.”

In November, ahead of the event, more than 40 volunteers assembled ration bags containing specific items that would be appreciated by families in need.

“We thought of something that families would most appreciate, that would be practical and easy to use,” said project leader Jermaine Lim.

Each pack contained daily necessities such as rice, cooking oil, canned goods, noodles and biscuits, as well as $60 worth of grocery vouchers.

Those who received the ration bags expressed their gratitude for the support, according to a news release. West Coast Community Center leaders also said these donations will help maintain ongoing assistance programs and ensure that vulnerable households continue to receive support.

Raymond Pan, a Latter-day Saint volunteer, helped transport the ration bags. He said the project reminded him to share the light and love of Jesus Christ with everyone through small acts of kindness.

This project was the sixth collaboration between the Church and the Rahmatan Lil Alamin Foundation in the Blessings for All initiative.

“This initiative is a remarkable example of an act of kindness that uplifts a community through the thoughtful distribution of grocery vouchers to families in need,” said Lavon Lu, the church’s national communications director. “By directly relieving the financial burden of daily life, the Foundation not only provides practical assistance, but also strengthens the spirit of unity and care across our diverse communities.”

The church in Singapore will continue to work with local organizations to identify needs and provide additional relief throughout the year where possible, the release added.
