A prayer for boldness to share your faith with your neighbors
by: Emma Danzey
Bible Reading: “I love your God, your heart, all your soul, and your heart and your power.‘ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbors like you are.‘ There is no greater commandment than these. ” – Mark 12:30-31
Read or listen to the following:
Who is my neighbor? Biblically speaking, our neighbors are everyone around us. This is not a physical resident living next door. This recognizes people in our path every day. When it comes to evangelism, sharing our faith with others is extremely intimidating. why is that? We are in God’s family and are grateful for what Jesus did for us. We literally call this good news, the gospel, but we roam around feeling like we need to hide it so that we don’t anger others.
2 Corinthians 2:15-16 states, “We are the pleasant scent of Christ between those saved by God and those who are dead. We are the scent that brings death. In the other, life is The scent brings. And who is equivalent to such a job?”
The truth is that we are comfortable or remind people of death who reject the gospel. The enemy tries to get into our minds, so we try to avoid sharing with others altogether, which is contrary to Jesus’ last words before Jesus’ ascension. He told us to go and make disciples everywhere. Whether we are talking to our literal neighbors about Christ’s love for them or sharing it with our overseas neighbors on the other side of the world, we are all faithful to Jesus, and we are all about his life, He is called and commanded to speak of death and resurrection.
Indifference, silence and fear can hinder the ability to see people the way Jesus does. What happens if we stop and recognize our barriers? What if you loved others like Christ and opened your heart to share the truth about sin and death, but offered the greatest gift you’ve ever given? Yes, you need to share the bad news, but you can also share the good news!
Let’s pray:
Dear Jesus,
We confess that we missed the opportunity to talk to others about Jesus. We hide the light from those around us who are perishing in a sinful world. Help us to be free from the lies we have believed in and empower your spirit to share this wonderful news. We pray that boldness will share faith with our neighbors. Will you help us find resources, pray, push into the Christian community, and support each other on the Great Committee?
Where we have concerns, please fill us with your confidence. Where we are proud of, remove our will for your will. What we fear is to give us great peace. Help us remember that we don’t save people, you do. Help us feel your ambassadors on Earth’s responsibility to be your ship and your ambassador. You are all God, and only your spirit can be saved by your blood on the cross. Remind us of the joy we have in being free within you. Helping that love, that peace drives our conversations, and we share our hopes with others in embarrassing ways.
Give us the words that come from your Holy Spirit and your Bible. Open the door for relationships with unbelievers, pray for them, discuss eternity. Help us to express you well with humility, kindness and truth. We pray for the wounds or negative past experiences of the Church for these individuals who need an open heart. It softens their minds and opens their eyes. We pray to receive sensitive family relationships in love, even if they have heard it from us. We pray for the boldness you share with strangers who will guide us on our daily detours. You are glorious and worthy. We praise the great salvation you have given us, and we should use you to share this hope and witness your spirit in the lives of those around us. Ask to use. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
