During the renovation, the building received upgrades, including energy-efficient lighting controls, earthquake updates, increased accessibility, and more elevators.

Nauvoo Cafe has also reopened and is now a garden restaurant. Located in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, the restaurant will feature menu items such as lion house rolls, turkey pot pie, soups, salads and bespoke sandwiches.

Temple Square patrons can visit the Joseph Smith Memorial Monday through Saturday from 9am to 5pm. The chapel and other parts of the building are still under construction.

Other Temple Square updates include new footing of the Salt Lake Temple and placement on the base isolator. This serves as a buffer between the temple foundation and the ground, reducing the movement of the building during an earthquake.
